Southwest Airlines Co. led six other major carriers in offering one-way fares as low as $30 to generate demand when the peak travel season wanes in September. The sale is Southwest's biggest nationwide reduction in 13 years.
Delta Air Lines Inc., American Airlines, United Airlines, Continental Airlines Inc., JetBlue Airways Corp. and US Airways Group Inc. joined Southwest in offering sale prices today and tomorrow for travel Sept. 9 through Nov. 18. The rates are $30 each way for flights as far as 400 miles, $60 for 400 to 750 miles and $90 for more than 750 miles.

Some good deals to be had. Not valid for travel on Fridays or Sundays, so need to make it a long weekend!

The sales on DL are only on select routes. E.g. the JFK-SFO nonstop is not available for $90. But JFK-SLC-OAK is available. Looks like Delta is resisting on its premium routes.

Well, I was waiting for a T fare from LAS JFK again, and while 119 is not the 109 I saw before, I will take it. However, the return flight on November 1 is still a U fare. Bah. Not sure if it has to do with this sale though, since the fare is not $90, so who knows.

Well it is Delta, so check 10 times in the next 30 minutes and it'll probably change up and down 5 times.

This is one heck of a sale, at least on WN, and I understand the legacies are matching a lot of it. Anyone intending to fly between 9/1 & roughly 11/20 (esp. to/from cities served by WN) should try booking today & see what comes up.

WN's sale runs until 11:59 Pacific time, so if DL matches the timing you should have until 2:59 AM local time.

There are lots of fares from BHM during that time period for the fares. Doesn't seem to be available for Fri, Sat, Sun
