And already I am frustrated. When I try to register on line I get the following message:
I hung up and called back. This time when prompted for my MR# I entered it on my keypad. Same response and my queue position now... #14. Forget it. I will try later.
Unfortunately, we could not register you in the MegaMilesSM promotion at this time. To complete your promotion registration, please contact Marriott Rewards Guest Services at 800-859-0686.
When I call the number I am asked for my MR#. I tried saying it and it was not recognized so I got put in a queue for a rep - #12.I hung up and called back. This time when prompted for my MR# I entered it on my keypad. Same response and my queue position now... #14. Forget it. I will try later.

I contacted Marriott about troubles registering. Here is their response:

The enrollment for this promotion does not start until January 22, 2009. You should be able to register tomorrow.

I could not register either from the link, but when I logged into my Marriott account it says I've been pre-registered.

Marriott says this is targeted.
Below is an email I just sent to Delta through delta.com. I logged onto marriott.com and sent the same content to Marriott.
On Jan 20 I received an email from Delta with the following subject "Earn Double Miles On Every Dollar Spent with MegaMiles." The email was inviting me to register for a promotion with Marriott hotels. I tried to register on line and Marriott's site told me to call an 800 number to register by phone. I contacted Marriott by email and they told me the registration begins Jan 22. I called today, Jan 22, and Marriott tells me that the promotion is targeted and my Marriott Rewards number is not eligible. Nothing in the Terms & Conditions (in the email Delta sent me) mentions that the promotion is targeted. My questions are: Why am I being offered a targeted promotion for which I am not targeted? Why do the T&C not specify that this promotion is targeted?

No. You don't earn both Marriott Reward points and FF miles. You choose with Marriott if you want to earn their points or FF miles. This promo doubles the amount of FF miles you earn and applies to everything you charge to your room. You must choose to have FF miles be your preferred earning mode. And of course, if you want DL miles you have to specify that in your profile.
