DL at JFK - Anyone head of Gate 71A?

Went to check the status of my flight this morning and saw my gate at JFK showed Gate 71A???

Anyone have any clue where this gate is or is it just a typo?

Nope...basically, you should be boarding at Gate 11 and you'll be transported to your remotely-parked aircraft by one of those IAD-like PeopleMovers or PlaneMates.

That sucks... so does FC get its own peoplemover, and then medallions... and then they cattle car everyone else?

I think ClipperDelta misspoke, 71A is the gate where everyone gets into a single file line, the Gate Agent appoints a line leader and a door holder and then makes everyone walk out to the remote stand.

This was done in the interest of "cost savings"...

Would probably be faster than the PlaneMate process!

It's an internal designation - there are no signs anywhere at the JFK terminals that indicate Gate 71A - the monitors will all denote boarding at Gate 11 instead.

You won't be laughing anymore if you ever have to use that gate! It's an operational nightmare. I'm not sure why they haven't figured out how to work those flights effeciently. Afterall, they've been doing that type of operation since the Pan Am days.....sheesh!
