Anyone know which 737-800's have the satellite tv?
Flying on Thursday to Cincinnati from Portland, just wondering which planes were the one's that got upgraded with the satellite service according to FlyerTalk.com
Not getting my hopes up since it's not that big of a route but you never know. |
I'm pretty sure it's the a/c with the code 73Y

So if it's identified as a 737-800 it's not a ship with PTV?
If it's 73H, then it's a reconfigured 738 with PTVs. If it's 73W, then it's the new 737-700s with PTVs. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell in advance from the seatmaps anymore as non-AVOD 738s now also have the same 16F/144Y configuration as the AVOD-wingletted-737-800s. |

If the aircraft code is 738, then it's a regular old 738 with no PTVs.

Philadelphia, PA to Salt Lake City, UT Given that it's a rather long flight, it would be nice if it was a PTV-equipped aircraft. The route used to be operated with an ex-Song 757, which was very comfortable, and just recently switched to a 738.Carrier Flight # Departs Arrives Equipment Type Flight Duration Miles From Time To Time Delta 1223 Philadelphia (PHL) 7:00am Salt Lake City (SLC) 10:00am Boeing 737-800 5.00 1926 Total miles: 1926 |

Thanks for the clarification all, I'm thinking it's just a regular old 737-800.

I was looking at flights JFK-LAX the other day, which are supposed to be all IFE planes. On the screen listing all flights, planes were either 757 or 737. I expected to see 757 or 73H, so perhaps they are not specifically noting the IFE planes anymore, at least on the DL website.

I am on a 737-800 from ATL-BGI in November...anyone know if that route has the AVODS?
|
I wonder if thats why flight 756 from Dallas to Atlanta is now a 737 instead of an MD80 or is Delta retiring the MD80s too, sorry I guess I just relalized this after booking a flight and checking flightaware for aircraft timeliness

It used to refer to the AVOD birds as "73H" vs the "Boeing 737-800," which denoted non-AVOD. Now, "73H" seems to have become "Boeing 737..." and non-AVOD is still "Boeing 737-800." It's confusing, and all the more reason to invest in a subscription to expertflyer. There, as ClipperDelta said, it's "73H," "738" and "73W." |

FYI, the 73H vs 738 vs 73W designation can be found with the downloadable-for-PC Delta timetable found on delta.com. The schedules in there not only list the various 737s, but also 752 (ex-TW/AA BE-equipped 757s) vs 757 (domestic 757s)... |
