No Preferred Seats on CRJ900?
Has anyone else noticed that on the CRJ900 there are never light blue 'preferred' seats and that all of the seats are assignable to any passenger? Specifically, the first few rows of coach and the exit rows are not shaded as preferred. Similar issues exist with other new aircraft configurations. Is Delta moving away from holding preferred seats?

Are there such seats on the CR9? I've only flown it once up front. Every other time I was supposed to fly it -- something happened: WX, Mechanical, Bump, Late for flt. I've only had a 20% success rate of flying when I was supposed to.

I had a run of them about three or four months ago and seem to recall that at that time I could only book seats toward the rear. I do remember being worried about the UG because there were no Medallion seats remaining and I figured that the airplane would be loaded with PMs.
It turns out that I never missed an upgrade on about three or four CR9 flights and it appears that the failure to show Medallion seats at all on them has been ongoing. Possibly a weight and balance issue??? |
I prefer any of the 9 seats in rows 1, 2, or 3 on these planes.

On another note, those bins are tiny! The Embraer 170 is way better in terms of passenger comfort. |
It appears that there are different variations of the CRJ900.
The Skywest jets without 4B are showing some preferred seats in rows 5 & 6. No preferred seats are shown on the other CRJ900 layouts. It also looks like rows 10 & 11 are blocked or held for gate assignment. |
All of my CR9 flights were operated by Comair.
