I totally agree as we have been there and done that too many times.

I found it to be an interesting article. Could you please tell us all the subjects you are tired of reading about, so we do not waste our time posting on the subjects you are bored with.

I do find it odd that some of the posts that people find the most interesting are the ones that are immediately closed down. God forbid that someone should complain about being sat upon, as such threads will be immediately closed.

For the record, I defer to the mods on this one. But curiosity is killing me ...

Does POS = Piece of S**t?

EDIT: Oh, and while you're closing threads ... Can y'all do something about this one?

POS = Person of Size.

Subjects that need no more threads (IMHO):
Fat people
Military members
Indian call centers
Segment qualification
SkySaver unavailability

While I have strong personal views on each of the above and am always up for a good argument, there is absolutely nothing new that can be said on the above subjects, and threads on these topics very quickly degenerate into personal attacks. If the OP has been paying attention to FT, he/she should know this.

So yes, while you are free to start a thread on any topic you like, don't be surprised if the thread gets locked.

Happy now?

Passenger of Size. Southwest calls them Customers of Size. Which has a better acronym than Customer of Width. Or even Passenger Who Requires A Second Seat.

Regarding this subject, it's all been said before and there is no simple or cost-effective solution that everyone will agree is fair. People have to compromise.

FWIW, and this might be the only new information that would have appeared in the thread, Southwest's idiosyncratic policy is highly favorable to the people who choose to follow it. You buy a second ticket and get a second seat. Then if the flight wasn't full, you get a refund. The Southwest forum has one member that has gotten a refund on his second ticket every time. Too bad we all can't do this! (If you're not big enough you can't buy the extra ticket and keep the 2 seats for yourself.)

Last edited by nsx; Feb 8, 2008 at 10:58 pm Reason: just thought of that second side-splitting acronym...

Fat people
Go to McDonalds, buy 2 Big Macs. Fly on an airline, buy 2 seats. Simple really.

Military members
Company decision if Delta wants to put them in F, personal decision if you want to give up your seat.

Indian call centers
Worthless

Segment qualification
Not needed.

SkySaver unavailability
I can't recall being unable to get a SkySaver that often. Hasn't been a problem for me.

Great idea for a sticky

Headline it:

IF IT HAPPENED TO YOU OR YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT - IT'S PROBABLY HERE

List the topics
publish the links to existing threads

Update list as new topics pop up

Already being done in the AA forum. No stickies but lots of "master threads."

What's wrong with "Large People"? I mean, that is a completely true statement. They are people and they are large.

Seat recline (person in front of me shouldn't recline, or person behind shouldn't complain when I recline)

They've all been talked to death already.
