What does DL consider "today"??

On Friday, I am on a flight that takes off at 10:50pm PACIFIC time. Is that considered Friday or Saturday in terms of when DL clears upgrades?

For example, if the flight is considered Friday, then the upgrades for FO would clear tonight at 9pm PACIFIC, however, if it is Saturday, the upgrades would clear Thursady night at 9pm PACIFIC.

There are ZERO seats left in F, but I am curious nonetheless.

I am connecting after the redeye and will be looking closely Thursday night for a potential upgrade on that flight... right now: wide-open.

If you have a 10:50 PM flight on Friday night it is considered a Friday flight both for upgrades and SDC's.

The upgrades process on a Calendar day basis, not 24 hours.

This means that your 10:50 PM Friday flight will clear on Thursday--or more specifically WEDNESDAY night around midnight (eastern time).

Just curious because of the time zone difference... I mean, 10:50pm Thursday in Cali is 1:50am Friday in Atlanta.

Thanks!

Yeah, for that specific case it is based on the time for the city you are departing.

Also, I have yet to be higher than number 30 on a west coast red-eye in the gate lottery. Usually PMs sitting next to me in the middle seats. Its a battlefield.

There were a couple times when I flew the last LAX-ATL red-eye (it was like 12:05am departure) and first was only 1/4 - 1/2 full.

Yep, local departure time zone applies. The Thursday and Friday red-eyes are usually brutal. I've been lucky a few times when I was the only Medallion member to receive an upgrade, even then, I had to wait until all zones had boarded before it cleared.

Yesterday was today yesterday. Tomorrow won't be today until tomorrow.

Update:

Didn't get the advanced upgrade on SAN-ATL, but DID get the advanced upgrade on ATL-PBI. Both of us, wife and I... two lowly FO's. Woo hoo for us! At least we have 27A and B for the overnight. Cold, yes, but comfy.
