DL Adds Extra Sections CUN to ATL on 8/19 and 8/20
Good job Delta! Looks like everyone who wants to get out of Cancun on Delta can before Dean hits. Delta added 3 flights on Sunday (M88, 757, 767) and 3 extra flights for Monday (in addition to the 4 regularly flights). The extra flights on Monday are 767, 767 and M88 (for an extra 600+ seats). I noticed that some of the extra flights on Monday still have availability. I don't have any history to know if this is a new plan of attack. But my guess is that Delta (and maybe all airlines) has better contingency plans to get extra planes into a tourist area BEFORE the event to get everyone out. This sure takes the pressure off AFTER the event to get back into the effected area to evacuate stranded passengers. I'm sure the CUN airport is a Zoo on 8/19 and will be on 8/20.
I wonder is Delta did the same for Jamaica.
Good job Delta!

2 extra departures were scheduled on Saturday Aug18 from MBJ to ATL. I know one of them went out with empty seats. They fly them in and then make sure to get them out before the storm. No carrier has a plane on the ground with the possibility of a hurricane strike.

I do not know about Jamaica, but DL flew 3 flights a day out of Grand Cayman both Saturday and Sunday to ATL. The Monday flight is cancelled, of course.

Delta.com shows only one flight available CUN-ATL tomorrow (8/20): a 7:05 am through MEX with seemingly only a few seats open.

All of them have been zeroed out now, but there are a total of 7 non-stop to ATL tomorrow as well as 1 to SLC. The extra sections are operated by 1 767 (BizElite), 1 767 (Domestic), and 1 MD-88. Good luck to everyone trying to get out.
