Some of the non-tropical wind storms in Sept and Oct caused more beach erosion than the hurricanes of 2004/2005 did. It's sad to turn on the news and see the "cliffs" at the beach in Brevard county.

Although, Hurricane Season ended November 30, 2007 there is "a tropical or subtropical cyclone" that could form in the next 24 hours off the coast of Puerto Rica.

This is a little late in the season for such action. Nothing like an unusual Holiday present for those of you in South Florida.

CHEERS.

Right now it looks like it will stay to the south of FL.....we would be happy to get some decent rains off of it as we are in a drought.

Nice catch on this. Those out of season ones are hard to catch and this, of all seasons, I didn't think would have one. Just keep it on that side...I can see the Gulf out my window right now.

Subtropical Storm Olga lives and some short term strengthening is scheduled to occur. A TS Warning is up for the northern coast of the Dominican Republic and a TS Watch for the southern coast. Unbelievable.

It is truly unbelievable, just ten days after the Hurricane Season ended for 2007 subtropical storm Olga appears on the scene. Guess these Hurricane Seasons just have no end.

We were forecast to get 4-8 inches of rain last night here in Port-au-Prince; I woke up to find my [prone to flooding] deck bone dry and my car still dirty in the driveway.. guess I'm going to have to wash it myself after all.

The locals here in PAP aren't complaining about the lack of flooding and mudslides, though it sounds like some of the towns in the north-central departments (Hinche, St. Marc, Gonaives) are still going to get hit.

Thanks for the update, CurlyKrakow, and it's really to find that we have an active FT'er in Haiti!

Well, CurlyKrakow, you got your wish. Olga came ashore.

According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, "Olga struck nearly two weeks after the official end of the Atlantic hurricane season. It is only the 10th named storm to develop in the month of December since record keeping began in 1851."

They also stated Olga should gradually weaken into a tropical depression.

And it is a tropical depression.

Interesting enough is a couple of the global models predict this to regenerate into a HURRICANE in about 5 days. Officially, the forecast does not.
