Lots of those things have names. My favorite bizarre name for a design is the one that appears on Coke cans and bottles, which is called "the dynamic ribbon device".

Jets Inspire “The Widget” Design

Today the triangle is a registered image used in Delta's aircraft livery, advertising, printed material, at airports and on ground equipment and Delta facilities. The first red, white and navy blue triangle emblem was introduced in 1959, when Delta entered the jet era with the introduction of the DC-8. Its shape resembles the swept wing appearance of a jet seen overhead.

Delta's advertising department described the trademark colors of red, white, and blue: “Within the strong outline of the triangle, the blue portion points to the sky where we fly—the point represents the pinnacle of professional achievement. Just entering the blue is the swept wing of the jet, represented by the broad white ‘V.’ The flat broad base suggests Delta's solid foundation. Colored red, it can be regarded not only as the exhaust behind the jet but also the flame of leadership that keeps the point headed upward.”
Ok I will admit to being a DL Kool-Aid drinker, but may I barf after reading that. That is just way too much thought into a widget

It has been rumor for a couple of months that DL will be re-branding itself after BK. It has been said to become more like it used to be but with a twist????

Couldn't possibly disagree more... I find that particular theme horrifically boring, and too slow-paced to be anything other than sleep-inducing (which may not be such a bad thing vis-a-vis airline advertising).

That said, one thing that I-- nor anyone-- cannot argue against, is this theme's success so far as brand identification; something I would've loved for Adiemus to have been for DL.

.......then you're in severe need of psychiatric assistance for believing that painted plastic can walk and talk

Braniff?

Anyone else find the title etc of this thread odd? Has DL actually started using the term "flying colors" which is an old Braniff term?? I certainly hope not. The Worldport was bad enough. Maybe they could also start using "we earn our wings everyday"

Perhaps s/he's doing the same psychadelics that the Delta ad copy writers from the 1950s were doing when they tried to describe the original Delta logo

They give you one free drink

Anyone else like the nostolgia of "FLY DELTA JETS" lit up on a clear evening at Hartsfield? I think the sign looks so great at night, and I love that all the AirTran planes have to taxi by...

Speaking as an outsider... whatever it may be called (largely irrelevant... I called it the Russian-flag-looking-thing), I never understood it, and if the whole point of tail design is identity, then it failed miserably. If I didn't pass DL gates so many times on my way to my flight, I NEVER would have known that tail was attached to a DL plane. The design, the name... it has nothing to do with company branding.

No one had mentioned Braniff prior to my post... no need for a snide/sarcastic comment.
