I think that any of the proposed designs are better than slapping the US Airways livery on a Delta Air Lines aircraft.
How is that for a change in perspective?

Was thinking about this tonight while sitting on the tarmac waiting to go somewhere, got to do that a couple times. Still holding my bottom line, Delta shouldnt mess with the colors on the widget. It is like McD's turning the golden arches green or UPS painting its trucks orange. The colors are part of the brand!!!!!
Actually, I think selecting "richer" shades of red and blue would enhance the widget.

There go the blue engine nacelles

How about solid RED engine nacelles, with the red (distorted) widget on a white background on the tail, a red underbody, and a blue pinstripe?
I'm afraid I don't have the photoshop skills (or software) to do it myself.

There are some definite plusses about the new livery. When I first saw it I didn't know what to think, but upon closer inspection, here's what I like:
-The Delta logotype. All uppercase, sans serif - it harkens back to Delta's classic imagery, from the 60s to the 80s and I really like it. It conveys strength and power that the current serifed typeface never did.
-The deeper colors are very classy.
-The blue belly/engine nacelles look nice too, and they'd have to move away from the silver anyway with the coming of the 787.
What I don't like
-The crooked widget. I like the coloring of the widget on the tail, but I would prefer it to either be a half widget that bleeds off the back of the tail or the skewed widget like in the classic livery.
-The solid red widget next to the DELTA typeface. I can see it on the back of the jet, but the widget next to the name should be the classic (or 3-d updated blue/white/red) version of the widget.
-A red cheatline somewhere would be nice

In the DL internal forum it seems that most people think it will look like this:

Nope.
I remember the howls of protest when the "flying rags" was introduced. Just like what is happening now. A lot of people just don't like change.
Because it's so...so...LEO! You have to disinfect the whole place.

I like it!! But what confuses me is it doesn't go at all with the rest of the new marketing materials like ticket jackets, current advertising, safety carts, web site, everything really. Would the widget switch to the slanted one and would the font on everything else change to this new livery?
