I'm not sure how you can make that statement. The "classic" widget is clearly an isosceles triangle, and probably an equilateral triangle. It HAS to be distorted to include an obtuse angle, just to squeeze it onto a slanted tail. That's the one thing that's always bugged me about the use of the widget on aircraft tails. The distortion is even worse on aircraft like MD-8Xs which have relatively short, but severely slanted tails

I've already said I don't much care about this. But the dark red/dark blue only tail design (with no white) looks awful. It's so visually heavy and ponderous that flying is the last thing it brings to mind.
Also, someone else may have mentioned this, but one positive aspect of the "widget" is that (at least I always thought) it also represents the Greek letter delta. UA has a giant U on the tail, AA has AA, shouldn't DL have a delta?

If you go to airliners.net thread: http://www.airliners.net/discussions....main/3347482/
and look at post #69 there's a variation of the one Lehava has proposed that looks REALLY good. Retro-yet-sleek. ^

Somebody should compile a list of all the options (like they are really options
) so we can take a vote and send them to the new BOD for approval LOL

It's not bad but it reminds me of US's new livery a little too much.

Yeah too much like US. That story has gone and past. Maybe the new scheme is to go along with the new upcoming merger (NW)?

Eeew, and I thought the red and blue one was bad. The red and gray is worse.

Looking back again at the model airplane, the warped widget on the tail looks more like an shooting arrow head.

The way they are handling the widget reminds me of how United is using the tulip. The tulip works because it is a flowing object. The widget just looks like its spinning in space.

Was thinking about this tonight while sitting on the tarmac waiting to go somewhere, got to do that a couple times. Still holding my bottom line, Delta shouldnt mess with the colors on the widget. It is like McD's turning the golden arches green or UPS painting its trucks orange. The colors are part of the brand!!!!!

Personally, I never cared for it, even back in the day of the black nose "classic" livery. I like the widget, I just never liked "forcing" it on the tail. Just a personal preference.
