Save SkyMiles ad in USA Today
Is it really the "Good Bye" it purports to be, or one more shot at getting segment qualification for Mikey?

It ran today, Wed 24 Sep, in USA Today, on page 6d, Living section.
Is there an SSM cell leader that has an electronic file of the ad and can post it? It is too long for me to type in.
It is a 1/2 page open letter to the employees of Delta from SSM, telling the employees how great they are, how bad the management team is, how employees and customers are getting shafted, and saying good bye.

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">To the employees of Delta Air Lines:
We are Delta Medallion Flyers. Just a few months ago, most of us
would never have considered flying any airline except Delta. Our
loyalty reflected your incredible dedication and friendliness. Sadly,
Delta's management has lost sight of the needs of its customers, the
wishes of its employees and the company's responsibility to its stockholders.
Management is leading the airline on a dangerous course--
one that we believe will lead to disaster.
An airline is more than just dollars and cents. Cuts in services, laying
off loyal employees and refusing to deal with the reality of what
Delta's most loyal customers truly want are signs of serious problems
within Delta's management. The SkyMiles program, once the best in
the industry, is now more an insult than a benefit, and despite our
attempts to help right the airline's course, we continue to get false
assurances that management is doing what "we" want. What Delta
management is doing is not what we want, and from conversations
with many of you, we know it's not what you want, either.
Leaving an airline that you've trusted for years and employees
with whom you have developed relationships is difficult. However,
after realizing that Delta's management has no interest in our perspective
and cares little about you or about us, we have decided
to take our business elsewhere.
We are taking this opportunity to publicly thank Delta employees
worldwide for the many years of kindness and service that made
Delta "our airline." We may no longer be with you in the air, but
we will always be with you in spirit.
We wish you well and continued safe travels.
Signed,
5,700 Delta SkyMiles members living all over the world and
representing over three billion SkyMiles.

Was this paid for with some of the proceeds raised via www.SaveSkyMiles.com ?
Sorry to be dense, but that is how I take original posts to refer to.
If so, I would certainlyt imagine the hard working core team would be able to post text, and of what it said.

Well, that ought to get someone's attention! (Be nice to see some media coverage of the ad as well. Anyone?)

ABSOLUTELY, otherwise the ad's impact is significantly lessened.
Wow, this ad was kept a VERY tightly guarded secret folks, when I reflect on the genesis of the buttons and mobile billboard via this forum.
I passed on to the core group a few months back a detailed list with the mail address and name of EVERY travel Editor of every newspaper, radio and TV station and network and agency in the USA.
My suggestion would be for those media folks to be emailed via mass "bcc" ASAP, while ad is still in their newspaper, reprinting the exact text, and then you may get a lot of great and FREE media follow up.

Thank you!! Thank you!! to whoever was responsible for this. If it was paid for with SSM contributions, I would happily contribute again for additional ads.
Could someone let us know who placed it, costs, plans for additional, etc. etc.....
From reading the various boards I see I'm not the only one this week with my toes on the edge of the board just getting ready to leap - so I really appreciate this last ditch effort and/or public "good bye".

The website says as of 10 minutes ago:
3,571,386,747 Total SkyMiles Represented
851 SkyMiles members
1,773 Silver Medallion members
2,131 Gold Medallion members
1,213 Platinum Medallion members
5,968 Total
598,423 Avg. Miles per member
I do not for one moment wish to look like an expert in hindsight, and Cholula's rider of "some minor changes" may hopefully make my point redundant. As many know I am a very small but enthusiastic supporter of this campaign, and wish it to get MAXIMUM exposure where possible, and know many folks have worked VERY hard on this campaign.
With national ads however, you get but ONE shot at getting the message across.
So let me make the obvious point that the ad apparently says it is signed by:
5,700 Members representing over 3 billion SkyMiles
Whereas the website, at the moment the ad is published says:
5968 members and well over 3˝ Billion miles
My thoughts would have been that seeing the current website numbers are substantially higher, it is curious they were not used in a national newspaper ad?
If there IS a media email - which I think is essential and needs be done in the next hours, I would politely suggest that if it does go the message might include something like:
"At the time of this email the support for our movement has swollen and we now represent nearly 6,000 Delta SkyMiles Medallion Elites with well in excess of 3˝ BILLION account miles - see website for full details - www.SaveSkyMiles.com "

I'm in Denver today and it's not in today's paper. I assume that it was a regional ad.
