DL is removing benefits while UA is adding

I received this today from UAL

Dear Goldmedallionflyer:

We've added another benefit exclusively for elite members (Premier®, Premier Executive® and Premier Executive 1K®) - a new policy that will enable you to upgrade to United First® or United Business® without using miles, certificates or money and allows you to travel in comfort and style.

Effective today, when you buy a full fare economy electronic ticket (Y or B class*) for travel within the United States, Canada, Hawaii, Caribbean and Central America (Region 1) you may upgrade one (1) class of service, free of charge, without using miles or certificates. Upgrade clearance will be based on your elite status (100 hours for 1K, 72 hours for Premier Executive and 48 hours for Premier) and is subject to availability. If travelling with a companion on the same reservation and itinerary, the companion will clear on your status.

This new policy is just one more way for us to say thank you for your continued loyalty. For more information, or to book a flight, call 1-800-356-8900.
(bold is my emphasis)

So while DL is reducing my Plat benefits, UA is increasing loyalty benefits (for me and my companion.) Sure makes it difficult to choose where my loyalty and $$$ drift to, eh?

p.s. I wonder how long it will be before Me2AL will chime in with their announcement of this added ammenity?
