Shocking Report!!.. DOT names ASA "Worst Airline in America"!

The following story was submitted by Joe Brancatelli today:

COUNTER INTELLIGENCE:
The Worst Airline in America Is...
The next time that one of your desk-bound friends asks you to name the nation's worst airline, give them a definitive answer: Atlantic Southeast Airlines, the Delta Connection carrier. According to the Transportation Department's Air Travel Consumer Report, ASA is running dead last in all the major categories of consumer service. It's on-time performance of 72.5 percent ranks it 17th out of 17 reporting carriers and 10 points below the industry average. ASA also has the highest percentage of flights that arrive late 70 percent of the time; in fact, ASA's late-flight rate is six times the industry average. It is tied with another commuter carrier, Atlantic Coast, for the highest percentage of cancelled flights each month. And ASA's mishandled-baggage rate of 14.75 reports per 1,000 passengers is not only the worst in the nation, it is also 3.5 times worse than the 17-carrier industry average.

Congratulations to Skip Barnette,Mr. Bedson and all of the other useless VP's Delta has thrown into place at ASA since they acquired it from Mr's Beiser and Pickett. You now officially have the worst airline in the US.

My professional experiences with at least one of these VP's has left me convinced that senior Delta management must be high on crack to be putting some of these people into senior management positions at ASA.

My friends inside ASA tell me that moral is at an all-time low. It will improve once this management team is sent packing.

Wow! You people in the anti-Delta cabal really bug me!

Do you honestly believe that Delta is not taking steps to insure that ASA will no longer be the worst airline in America?

Why do you think they created Song?

I have no doubt at all that with the introduction of this new subsidiary, ASA will soon be the SECOND worse airline in America.

Dovster, you shock me defending DL like this. I would say you have NEVER FLOWN ON ASA.

DL has had years to fix ASA and it has only deteriorated worse and worse every year, despite "quality programs". ASA is the straw that broke this camels back and finally pushed me over the edge to leave DL (the FF program changes did not help either, but ASA is not tolerable).

Yet another post from a person who I doubt flies on ASA or DL all that much or he or she would know the truth and yet defending DL.

While I agree the board has become anti DL, defending ASA is about as ignorant as one can be.

I am simply appalled. Who would ever have guessed the words ASA and "Dead last" would ever have appeared all together???

I guess DL is getting it on all fronts these days. Sucky connection carrier, bad FF program, unhappy employees, whacked-out management team....

Glad I'm leaving this train wreck. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Today, while being kept on hold by CSC, I was treated to a recording extolling the virtues of Song. It advised me that Song is "rapidly expanding" and if I live on the West Coast "there is a good chance we'll be in your neighborhood soon."

Well, Martha, there goes the neighborhood!
