It is always fun to wonder just what the changes might be. It could be routine maintenence, but then again, it could be for the installation of some useful upgrades in utility and capability.

I haven't looked yet. Are there any significant changes that anyone has spotted?

Still down as of 10:45 EST....several hours past their estimate. This website generates some heavy duty bucks for DL....surprised it's still not operational.

Oops...sorry...it's back up and running.....

You can now check a fare and then log on without losing your place. I think that's new.

Plus "Flight Schedules" is no longer along the left column, but relocated to the Flight Tools box. "Specials" is now in the drop down box under your SM number, but that is no biggie. Anyone notice anything else different?

Oh, gosh, I hope not. No production website should ever be brought down for "routine maintenance". As someone who has a full-time job dealing with these kinds of systems, I can confidently say that's just a sloppy way to do business. One might say the design of some sites requires regular maintenance outages, but if that's the case it's time for a redesign.

That said, I can't figure out what, if any, the changes are. I haven't noticed anything besides the minor link shifting described above. Perhaps if I actually purchased a ticket...

I'm not usually a corporate apologist, but I think some people are over-complaining here. In my opinion and experience, in terms of depth of content and ease of use, DL's site is superior to any other airline's. If it goes offline for maintenance in the middle of the night now and then -- at least we know they're devoting attention to it.

Its happening again, but this time it involves the DL Reservation system too.

System Maintenance Notice

Notification of Scheduled Maintenance for Saturday, March 29, 2003

From approximately 2:30am to 3:30am EST on Saturday, March 29, the application features of delta.com and Delta Reservations will be unavailable while we make some necessary, planned technical upgrades to our infrastructure.

During this time, you'll still be able to access the informational pages of delta.com. Please come back later to purchase tickets, check your SkyMiles balance, and take advantage of all the other online tools that help you plan your next trip.

We apologize for any inconvenience.
