OT Need help re: Hotel Tipping

I know this is way off topic but would appreciate learning from the knowledge and expertise on this board....

When travelling on business, do you tip housekeeping staff? I have been staying 3 nights a week at the same hotel. I have been leaving $5. Is this too little or too much? If I leave it just in the room when checking out, am I short changing the staff that does evening turn down?

thanks,
marc

Can you imagine the service we'd get if the FAs worked for tips?

This is really too far removed from Delta to remain here. I'm going to move it to OMNI. You'll find lots of other posts on this topic there.

Most of them would quit within days!!!!

I have met the most wonderful gate agents, crown room agents, and FAs over the years....I have also met the most incompetent, dense, uncaring too. I liked the old Onepass program of having customers provide airline employees with "cards" which would then be worth awards. A way to show the employees how much you appreciated them.
