getting SkyMiles credit from AF when you don't have your boarding pass

I'm at my wits end.

Back in Oct 2002 I flew R/T IAD-CDG on AF. I got my SkyMiles going out, but for some reason I didn't get them coming back. I've tried calling Delta - but they keep telling me I need my boarding pass. I no longer have the boarding pass (in fact, that is the only piece of documentation from that itinerary that I don't have).

Delta hasn't been helpful or flexible. They keep telling me that they can't pull up AF tickets.

Pardon me, but in a business alliance that involves codesharing and mileage partnering and all that stuff, why is it that a) they don't have better backoffice/db integration and b) they are making this my problem?

AF wasn't much help either, although they were pleasant enough to remind me that I couldn't claim SkyMiles without a boarding pass. (Merci beaucoup!)

I could use some advice. I ain't givin' up 3800 miles.
