New MSU Program

I just have a couple questions about the new MSU Program (if it ever gets implemented given the strong dislike for it, me included).

First, earning MSUs at the 10,000 "paid base mileage" mark. Does this mean actual mileage or MQMs?

Second, with the 500-mile upgrades will there be a grace for flights under a certain mileage. For instance, if a flight is 540 miles, then do I have to use two?

Thanks for your help.

1) Indications so far are that MSUs are awarded on flown mileage, not MQMs. Seems a bit contradictory, I think.

2) No indication that there will be a single mile of leeway.

FWIW, I read it the same way as andymo99.

OTOH, I do remember a bruceb comment that a "grace mileage" policy was being considered.

my base segment FLL-ATL each weeks is 570 miles...
Delta says (2) MSUs are needed.

That will make (6) MSUs for each RT...
This is LUDICROUS - and I'm not talking about a singer.

I hated math, but I only count 4 MSUs needed for a RT!?

1) I'm sure it's 4 for every 10k MQMs. Base miles won't exist any more. Hope I'm wrong.
2) for 540 miles you'll need 2 5MUs. (My typical segments are 1104 miles; 735, 765. Tough, but beats steerage). No grace.
3) FLL ATL r tr will be 4 x 5MUs as I read it. Too bad, but you won't take the Greyhound. Agree w Robert.
---All of us are trying to get DL to give more 5MUs to all Medallions. Let's hope it works. If Leo and his minions have any brains it will. (Right, Minion? We are sure you are peeking!)

I think FL-Delta-Platinum was talking about the first leg of the trip. He/she probably connects in ATL on to another destination, requiring another MSU for that upgrade.

What used to be 4 MSU for a r/t is now 6.

I believe we were told it would be ACTUAL miles flown not MQM's. (not base miles). So a 1449 mile SLC -CVG counts as 1449 miles regardless of whether you fly it in U, K or M class.

first flight to ATL, where we must all connect, will cost (2) segments each way. destination beyond, mostly in SE are another two segments RT. I'm going to be using anywhere from 6-8 MSU each week.

Under the new plan I'd be out by the end of January...
That's REAL program enhancement...!!
