Conversation with SMS regarding SM changes
Ok, I thought there was a thread on this subject but couldn't find it (sorry if there is).
I spoke with an SMS agent today (trying to finalize plans for a European Trip) and mentioned that I may try to burn miles because of my unhappiness with the changes to the SM program. The agent said "We'll see how long the changes last" and that she's had a lot of complaints. I thought it was kind of interesting for what it's worth. |
Even if they were to rescind the recent changes, and we have already noted that this kind of reversal is very unusual in corporate culture, a lot of damage has already been done. Many of DL's former best customers have had a reason to find other homes with other carriers, and some of them will probably be gone forever.

Once I made my decision to leave there was no turning back. I simply don't have enough time to play the "wait and see game" with DL. After 1.2 million miles and Platinum status for the last 8 years, I have moved on to AA. ORD is my home base so I now can fly direct to most of my destinations and ride in the expanded coach seating that AA offers. In a way I'm glad DL made these changes because it was the "push" that I needed to "free" myself and choose air travel that best meets my business needs (vs. being so loyal to one airline that I put up with layovers, cramped coach seating, and poorly run FF programs).
My advice...DON'T LOOK BACK!! |

Well, they could backtrack on most of the onerous changes and still use MQMs to determine status, either alternately or exclusively. So MQM computerization is irrelevant.
But I agree with boeing727 -- choose the best program for you and don't look back. If hanging in to see if the (unlikely IMO) return to decent rewards/bribes is best for you, we wish you good luck.... [edited for pesky spelling] [This message has been edited by LexPassenger (edited 01-25-2003).] |
CVG CRC staff said they have passed along a lot of the grief that they took from us. Had me fill out complaint card today. Said Virginia Ave is listening....I don't believe it but we will see. (I hope they are not part of the 300+ layoffs)
