SkyTeam Wannabes...

Don't some of you get tired waiting for the announced ST associates to get their membership finalized... China Southern was announced back in August 2004, and Aeroflot was also announced back in 2004.

There are rumors about the SU will finally gain ST admission next month, April. But there are now quite a number of prospective announced members including Kenya, COPA, Tarom, Air Europa, Middle East and by some reports, Royal Air Maroc. Any others that I have forgotten?

What's the deal... why does it take so long to get these things worked out?

I am not so sure about that... back in my day of the corp world, our inhouse legal staff was sallary.

I think the issue is priority. If DL wanted them to be in SkyTeam, DL could make it happen. Priorities - and this is not one of them...

Why do you assume that DL is a driving force in SkyTeam any longer? Certainly DL's influence has been greatly diluted since the days when AF and DL were the only biggies. Now AF has greatly increased in size with the merger to KLM, and there are two other American carriers of significance in the group.

They never were the top dog and now they aren't even number 2!

Unless Founding Member is written in the ST bylaws as being more powerful than the rest.

Fair point. I wonder if it does give any particular status.

Of course I am really more interested in SkyTeam doing something for customers! You would think that by now they could at least provide a comprehensive list of lounges that Elite Plus members can use. The SkyTeam website is useless!

Any chance of carriers which serve Oceania getting in ST?

No something more direct than KE.

Roger that! ^

I'm looking forward to CM and Kenya joining and hoping for one to come along and fill SkyTeam’s South Asia/Australia void. :)

I would really like to see MH join for more MQM-earning opportunities to South & SE Asia. Plus they are an awesome airline - great service, especially in C. The KUL lounge is one of the nicest I have ever been to.
