Anyone "gifted" bottles of wine and champagne on DL?

I was reading a thread over at the UA board and getting jealous about accounts from people regularly being given bottles of wine and champagne on board. Anyone experience this on DL?

I proposed to my fiancée on a DL flight and no only did the FA's help me surprise her with the ring, but when we left the plane, they gave us a full bottle of Champagne and also the glasses that they had served us a toast with, decorated with white ribbons and bows.

Has happened to my wife and I 2 or 3 times over the past 2 years on international flights. Dl flight attendants are the best.

Rssrsvp - that's sweet! I remember the FAs on a Republic flight to LA gave us a bottle of champers (ok, sparkling white wine, for the purists) on our first anniversary. We really appreciated that.

We've had a few bottles from Delta in the last few years, although none lately, come to think of it. Wonder if word has been passed along to cut it out, or if it's just coincidental.

Happened to me few times – in BizElite (coming back from Europe)

It happened to me twice on one trip. At least 7 or 8 bottles a year. All unsolicited. One time in coach.

I read that UA thread. There was one guy who said he got a bottle just about every flight and was turning them down because he couldn't carry them. I have only had DL give me a bottle of wine once and it was because about twenty minutes into the flight I asked if they were showing a movie since it was designated as such. The flight attended apologized and said that they had forgot to load it. It really wasn't that big of a deal but she said she felt bad and wanted to give me a bottle of wine. So I accepted it.

Actually we were flying EWR-ATL-SMF and it happened on a 757 in F on the ATL-SMF leg. The 2 FA's were vets with about 30 years each and ATL based. One of them went to a gift shop in Hartsfield to buy the ribbons and bows for the glasses(without me knowing it) as I had approached them abour 1/2 hour before boarding and asked them to bring out the ring after the food service. They tied the ring with the ribbon to one of two glasses filled with champagne and I proposed. All of the women in F had tears in their eyes including the FA's. They told me later, that in all of their years of flying that this was the 1st time someone had proposed on one of their flights. When we walked off the plane they gave us the ribbon decorated glasses, a bottle of champagne and the F food menu signed by the entire crew with DL wings attached. It listed the date, time, location (Fayetteville) and the altitude (33,000 feet).

The captain even asked my fiancee what her final answer was over the PA system in his own version of Regis doing the Millionaire game.

Had a second home on Maui for a few years. Never arrived without a bottle of wine-in-hand, compliments of UA. Never had to buy a bottle of wine in Maui. As I recall, several years ago, on a a DL international flight (not sure if it was 1st class or BE) the FA's gave us a bottle of champagne and a small jar of caviar " to go." Anyone serving caviar anymore? (Maybe, that should be another topic).

My wife and I had a BRE (bottle receiving event) this past summer while flying in BE from BRU to CVG. We were in the last row of the first BE section and so got to chatting some with the FA's in the galley. They were rela nice and, I guess, they thought we were too as they gave us two bottle of wine just prior to landing.

Also, a few years earlier, on a TW flight in TWO from CDG to JFK on my wife's birthday, I had requested of the FA's if they might have a little cake or something to celebrate the ocassion. After the meal service they called us into the galley where we had a little celebration and they gave us a bottle of Moet. I found out later that one of those kind FA's was Mariska Hargitay's (of NBC's Law & Order: SVU) step-mother!

I've gotten a few over the last couple years. Not that I search out getting one at all, but most of the time the FAs are bored out of their minds and just by being nice and being interested in your conversations with them will not only possibly earn you some extra snacks or free drink, but possible sometimes maybe even a bottle.

On 12/23/98, I was taking a red eye PDX-ATL-EWR. I bought several boxes of men's cologne and women's perfume. These were the ones where they have like 1/2 oz of vaious kinds. I opend them up, put them all in small boxes and wrapped them. I had maybe 20 for guy and 20 for gals (differentiated by paper color). When I got to the airport, I started giving them out to everyone I dealt with. People at ticket counter, secuirty, gate agents, pilots, flight attendants. Anyway, as I got off the flight at ATL, they handed me a plastic bag that they use for trash. It was heavy!!!! I looked in after I got off - there was a bottle of wine and chamagne along with about 10 small bottles of liquor. I don't drink but thought that was nice. I wound up leaving the bag in the train station in Newark figuring some homeless guy would have a nice Christmas - though I doubt it actually would help them....I just couldn't figure out what to do with it.
