Total miles miscalculation?

I was on the phone with a rep just now about a bunch of things and while on, I noticed my balance since I last looked was higher. Since I was on hold a bit, I looked at the account summary. I won't use my actual totals, but I'll throw in numbers for examples.

Since the first of the year when I had an entry for -10 SMU credits (I am PM so no big deal), I had 100055 total miles in the account. (As mentioned it is actually much more, but it was just over an X00,000 mark so I remembered the number since I have never reached that level.

I looked to see what was new and had the following entries on 12/28/01 that just posted:

Hampton 100
MYOB promo 500
MYOB promo 500
MYOB promo 5000
MYOB promo 5000
MYOB promo 1000

12/17/01
Hilton 500

12/4/01
Hilton 500

Well my total went up to 101,155 - just 1100 miles...I am assuming from the three HHonors posts. THere was no overall increase for the 5 MYOB entries for 12,000 points.

Has this ever happened to anyone? The only thing I can think of is that those 12,000 points got added to the total on 12/28 but didn't show in the account detail section until now....and no they were not listed before....this was first time they showed up there. The agent was baffled and suggested I contact the SM Service Center during normal hours.

I am posting another thread on MYOB and the benefits in another thread if you want to look.

We've seen this happen many times. Here's the most likely explanation: The MYOB points were there previously but did not show up because they posted without a date. The top line in an on-line SkyMiles statement is the first mileage post with a date. So, if later posts are made without dates, they are added to the total but don't show in the display. When the three Hilton posts were added, presumably the Hampton at the top had a date. That made all earlier posts appear. But only the Hilton posts were actually "new"; the MYOB posts were there all along, but you couldn't see them.

Is this clear enough?

I've had trouble lately also that partner posting will show but NOT get added to the total until later ... I've heard until you take a flight, but for me it did eventually "fix" itself without flying (though I have the situation going on right now too, waiting for it to "fix" itself).

As long as the post is there, I wouldn't worry about it too much ...

With several promos this year, my total would be right fairly quickly after a flight, but the detail would not show up for several weeks. Had I not been so compulsive about tracking my miles, I would not have been able to figure that out at any midpoint in the sequence. My guess is that you saw a total that included some miles that had not yet appeared as line items.
