Throw away ticket? That doesn't sound as fancy as hidden city or back to back ticketing. There should be a Mileage Run dictionary but then again, it would probably be outdated as soon as it is published.

DL's RPU audit reminds of Vegas casinos, but without the free drinks. They want you to come, play and enjoy yourself. But if you are winning, now they want it back somehow. I have had my fair share of gambling on upgrading an M fare only to luck out. I guess always the house always has the edge.

Isn't it illegal for a store to charge you more than the price stated on a product simply on the "chance" of getting something extra? If it is gambling or a lottery, than it should be subject to more disclosure (some fares on Internet do not reflect U or L until fare is ticketed).

Rule #1. Don't ever tell airline employees what you paid for your seat or how many miles you are getting.
This should be common sense. If an employee asks, just let him/her know that you have a quick meeting with a colleague to pick up some important technical materials in XXX before proceeding to YYY.

I guarantee that in court, if DL sold you the ticket and then tried to explain that the ticket goes against it's own FF policy that no lawyer would take the case for DL (if they didn't have a prior contract...it is kind of like selling an illegal product and then asking for protection from prosecution). A judge would just laugh at the case and the lawyers would walk out before the proverbial gavel slams down.

I am not a lawyer but am using logic in this case along with experience in other areas.

Recently I decided to take the advice that "you should choose your battles carefully." I have decided to bow out of battles I know I could win because of the time commitment that it would take to do so. In contrast to this advice, I have been tempted recently with other problems to stand up and fight because I know it is right and that others will benefit from me commiting my resources. It's not quite there with DL but is coming close.

I don't know what the deal is with this board and me keeping track of my FF miles. It takes up a lot of time but I can't seem to not speak my experience.

As mentioned earlier in this thread by Juuceman:

"Delta reserves the right to limit mileage credit for an itinerary to the number of connecting flights actually traveled or the maximum number of segments shown in Delta's published schedule for a connection between any two cities, whichever is less. "

Apparently the routing that was flown was "shown" because he booked it with DL and he did "actually travel it." Where is the problem?

It seems that the above statement is headed toward limiting buying two tickets in order to get to one destination. For example buy LAX-ATL-MCO (stop but connect immediately) MCO-ATL-ORF and return the same way.

With the above quoted comment, DL could limit you to the "maximum number of segments shown in Delta's published schedule for a connection between any two cities" which would be maximum segments between LAX and ORF. From experience, I believe that the maximum would be at least 4 but their problem is more than likely the loss of revenue on the ticket (from not buying LAX-ORF) and not that you got 1 or 2 free segs. If this is so, their policy needs to state so.

It is late and I have to stop trying to prove the point.
