Now I've heard it all

A bunch of DL flights ex ATL were delayed because of weather today. I was trying to get on one of them standby. Here's the timeline:

7:40-- original scheduled departure time
7:20-- gate agent announces that departure has been pushed back to 8:10 because the FAs aren't there yet
7:45-- gate agent announces time is pushed back to 8:25
8:00-- gate agent announces that FAs have landed in A concourse and are en route
8:15-- gate agent announces that the FAs "didn't know they were working this flight", so "they all went home." The search for new FAs begin.

That's got to be the lamest excuse I've ever heard.

On the bright side, you were told what actually happened (unless the real reason was even dumber), as opposed to "We're delayed because of a ... um ... mechanical problem".

"Now I've heard it all"

Well, maybe, and we hope so - but you never know!

Could be more "nonsense" just out of sight around the corner!

Beats me. I decided the odds of that flight taking off with me on it were pretty low, so I decamped for Popeye's. After a delicious container of red beans and rice, I went to B31 for my scheduled 9:55 departure. It was delayed too, of course.
