Help with a semi-MR on DL

I'm moving to the NYC next week and I want to visit a frind of mine in MCO the week after.

I'm trying to find a cheap ticket, from either LGA or JFK to MCO,trying to maximize miles earned.

travel dates are Aug,16 to Aug 18 can't stay longer :(

With the multicity option on delta.com I came out with this:

1 Delta 595 Coach (T) LGA 6:00am
16 Aug 2005 CVG 8:04am
16 Aug 2005 0
2 Delta 325 Coach (T) CVG 9:06am
16 Aug 2005 ATL 10:39am
16 Aug 2005 0
3 Delta 432 Coach (T) ATL 2:30pm
16 Aug 2005 MCO 3:58pm
16 Aug 2005 0
4 Delta 5402 * Coach (T) MCO 1:14pm
18 Aug 2005 CVG 3:40pm
18 Aug 2005 0
*Operated by Delta Codeshare Partner. Click flight number to view flight details.

5 Delta 1214 Coach (T) CVG 7:19pm
18 Aug 2005 LGA 9:16pm
18 Aug 2005 0

for 170$ and 2926 MQM.No t a good MR,but I have to go anyway.can anybody help me with better routings and with a better schedule without the price skyrocketing?really don't know what to do in ATL for 4 hrs!

Then,I won't have a car,and the flight from LGA is early so I guess public transportation won't be an option, should I get a cab or sleep at the airport?I'll be living in queens nearby flushing.

Thanks in advance

I usually try to go south to ATL, then north to MEM or CVG, then to my destination, return flight in reverse order.

Thanks!just found it searching by schedule, couldn't sort it by price.should I go the night before to JFK?Where can I sleep?any cheap airport at the hotel(though so close to my place...)is It ok if I show up for check-in at 5.20 am?

thanks again

For heaven's sake, you do not need to sleep in the airport or at an airport hotel! :)

The buses run practically 24 hours a day (check www.mta.nyc.ny.us for details). If you fly out of JFK, the AirTrain runs 24/7, and obviously the subways run 24/7.

Flushing to LGA would be cheaper and more convenient than JFK, so if I were you, I would do that.

I know,I know that public transportation works 24/7,it's not my first time in NY but getting to JFK would be quite long!and IIRC the Q 44(not really sure about the number but there's a bus going flushing-LGA)doesn't go all night.
leaving from LGA would be more expensive(60$) so I'll have to go from JFK.
thanks anyway

It's not $60 more. You found a $170 trip starting from LGA, which is exactly the same price as JFK, and both have two connections to MCO. You did pretty well, finding the most ideal trip all by yourself; congratulations! ;)

The first Q48 bus arrives LGA Delta terminal at 4:48 AM.

No, I meant the first one you posted, LGA-CVG-ATL-MCO. JFK-BOS-ATL-MCO is 486 miles more, which I do not think is worth paying the extra $5 to go to JFK, dealing with JFK, dealing with a CRJ, and dealing with BOS. After all, if you really wanted to maximize miles, you wouldn't be flying to MCO in the first place.

Where in Flushing are you going to be?

Well I have to go to MCO anyway so it was just to get the maximum mileage from it.maybe you are right, for 486 miles it's not worth it.I'm going to be on the Q15 route,on 150th street.let's see if I can find a better schedule, cuz I really don't want to be stuck 4 hours in ATL!thanks for all the infos JS

The fare jumped to 190$,the MCO-CVG-LGA now comes out in U not in T,though T is widely open  how come?any hint how to get the T booking code for the last 2 legs?thanks

Are you looking at this reservation from 2 different websites? One of them may be "holding" the last T fare. For example, once I was on Delta.com looking at a flight and was on the phone with our company TA. She wasn't able to get the lower fare that I was seeing. I "cancelled" the flight on Delta.com and had her requery and she was able to get me the lower fare, so I think that by me cancelling it actually "released" the seat. Of course this could have been just a coincidence.
