But yeah, I guess the fact that I don't get carded in bars or restaurants kinda discredits how 'normal' it is for me to not get carded in airplanes.

Usually at a restaurant I do something like ask what they have on tap so it appears as though I normally drink beer at a restaurant, and am not just some underage hooligan like indufan.

Yea, that's me.

Sorry I didn't feel better and the weather wasn't better in SAT, I really wanted to get seriously drunk.

Sorry, that's the zipcode for Mandan, North Dakota so you're outta luck....:p.
BTW, watch out how you smart-off to indufan.
He was a LEO in Rushville, IN for 10 years and may still be able to retroactively haul your butt to the slammer for underage drinking....

What in the hell is a "Rushville, IN"? The highlight of law enforcement there is probably un-tipping the cows and de-egging the windows.

(Yes, I realize I live in a town called Plano, TX. Say nothing.)

Hell, I even had a few drinks with him in SAT. I was skepital but it turns out PBG is kind of fun. However, I think he topped Dov's staying at the Ramada in Boca by taking the bus back to Dallas.

You were skeptical? Think back to when you were 19 and think of how skeptical you'd be about meeting up with... err, older people in San Antonio of all places. :p

And don't keep reminding me of that damn Greyhound bus... it was almost as bad as a middle non-reclining seat on Delta!

Okay, getting more or less back on topic...

When I was in high school and college, I flew between Southern California and Boston 5-6 times a year. At the time (early to mid-90's), that was good enough for AAdvantage Gold. I had the nasty habit of charging upgrade stickers to my dad's Amex and flying FC most of the time. Doing what another poster suggested works for him, I usually ordered by name a specific up-market drink like a mixed cocktail or a mimosa, never beer (I don't like beer) or something trashy. FA's rarely tried to card me. One actually did it after the fact when asked by a supervisor, which is rather like slamming the barn door after the horse has flown the coop. When they did ask, I busted out with "ahhh, you know, my passport's in my checked bags, sorry...." That usually satisfied them.

Ordinary airport bars and Admiral's Clubs, however, were a totally different ballgame. They wouldn't even let me sit at the bar or in its vicinity. They make all their money on their liquor license and must protect it. On board, who's gonna know?

The irony of it is now that I 1) travel for business and need to work en route or after I land, or 2) travel for fun and have my own car parked at the airport such that I have to drive home, I rarely order drinks on flights at all! It messes with my mind so I can't work, and I basically avoid booze entirely if I have to drive. In some measure, it defeats the purpose of the upgrade and the usefulness of the Crown Room. On long-haul flights, I try to keep the intake down so I don't totally dehydrate. Maybe it's maturity taking over... naaaaah.....
