Question about earning MQM's

Hello-

I am a SM with Delta already this year. I now get a 25% bump on all future mileage earnings. My question is... is this just a jump in the general miles or also a jump in MQM's earned on a Delta flight? I hope that is clear.

Also, if I am flying on a Skyteam flight (not Delta), is my Delta number enough to prove I am also a Skyteam Elite member?

Is getting a new Delta card necessary or is my old card sufficient to secure the added benefits?

Thanks,

-S

Congratulations on making fo (silver in flyer talk language). You will only receive 25% more base miles not mqm’s. Delta should be sending you a new card but for the time being your sky miles number should be enough to prove your sky team elite. I hope this helps you.

You can get MQM bonus "jumps" for paying extra for a higher class of ticket, e.g., Y vs L. There is no MQM bonus jump for being Silver, Gold or Platinum.

Your medallion status is on your Delta boarding pass. The card rarely needs to come out of the wallet. If your ticket is on a Delta partner, then status is probably not on the boarding pass. The old card is not dated so it will probably work.

On my first CO flight since becoming FO, I checked in online and there was a little skyteam elite icon on the top of the boarding pass.

Not base miles; just spendable miles. (Note: "Base miles" is a meaningless concept on DL these days, but is generally understood to mean flown miles).

Also, some partners (AF in particular) will not recognize your SkyTeam Elite status without (1) a card or (2) a huge argument.
