Nothing exciting ever happens to me!!!
FD, like you, I have NEVER seen anything like this in over 3MM with DL and 1MM on NW as well as a few other flights.

Have had 3-4 medical emergencies in 25+ years, several aborted landings, 1 aborted take-off, slid off runway on ice in MEM 20 years ago, lost flaps flying out of New Orleans, hit by lightening at least twice......but never...ever...saw someone arrested for sitting in 1st. What's this world coming to???

Heck....I was once even offered a hot towel while in coach (award ticket) on a Delta Connection (Shuttle America) flight in late 2005.
I got one on Comair once and I got one on Delta on Sunday.

It's really not all that close to a felony

In my abbreviated FF career, two aborted landings, an aborted take-off (recently, I might add), two complete power failures (thankfully both on the ground and strangely within 2 weeks of each other...those emergency lights really shine), only 2 diversions, a handful of prisoner transports (that I noticed), too many drunk passengers (one who dumped a beer upside down in the pocket of my shorts while I was asleep) and I have never seen an airport police officer on an airplane or in a jetway.

More importantly, and slide it over to the Lounge if you want...do tell us about the sliding off the runway and losing your flaps. Did you ever find your flaps?

I've been on planes in two instances where authorities came to remove single adults and one or more children - my assumption was custody issues. Don't recall if they were uniformed city PD or airport security - this was all pre-9/11.

This guy was not just arrested for this infraction, it was for something bigger and real.

Yup, last night for me too, ATL at 9:44 to BWI around 11:30 pm, FC half full on a 757.

I was cheated by Delta today. They refused to accept a valid Miscellaneous Charge Order.

I guess I need to go to a donut shop, round up four cops and arrest the counter staff.

Thanks for figuring this out, I had always been curious as to what the deal was, being the OP

Based on DL's price, we may even be talking less. I am very skeptical of the context of this story. This was an allegedly empty seat and the guy had a paid ticket. He was not stopping Delta from selling that seat. I am sure there is more to this story.

I have seen pax forcibly escorted off the plane three times, all on AA and everytime at DFW. One middle-aged lawyerly-looking couple because they refused to change to their newly assigned seats after a change in equipment. I haven't seen these kind of incidents lately, but I did berate an FA last year for allowing someone on US in FC have their friend come up and sit with them in an empty seat. No big deal and I wasn't going to say anything...but when the leather-squatter asked for a glass of wine, that crossed the line. The FA apologized to me later and the FC pax talked to me (it was obvious who requested the squatter to leave) also and turned out to be a nice guy.

Maybe that is why you are not a police captain. This is theft of service and, quite likley a felony. The police have a duty to punish criminals. I see no reason why a shoplifter should get busted and not this fool.

PAPD would have been dispatched no matter what the reason. NYPD almost never operates at the airports.

Maybe that is why you are only a cadet, not to mention "psycho".

I do believe the PD would have a looooooong battle ahead trying to get a prosecutor to go forward on a FELONY charge for a coach pax sitting in FC. Getting a conviction would be even more unlikely.
