Minimum connection time at AMS
Note: when determining the airline for MCT purposes, what counts is who markets the flight, not who operates it.

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL: 50 minutes

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL, DL-KL, or DL-DL: 25 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL or KL-DL: 90 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-KL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL or DL-KL: 60 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-DL, DL-KL, or KL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL: anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours--it depends on the flight numbers and the dates. I've posted the raw output below to help you figure out which MCT will apply.

DL has rescheduled us SLC-PDX-AMS-KRK. We are traveling in business. The AMS connection is 55 min. There is only one flight to KRK per day (KLM CityHopper regional jet-EMB 175). I know it's a legal connection time but is it possible? If we miss the connection, we lose 1 day on our short 6 day vacation. Also, will we get boarding passes for the KLM flight when we check-in in SLC? If I check bags, will they make it?

Some good news, some bad news. The good news is that your bags will be checked through to Krakow and you should get all your boarding passes at SLC; the bad news is that Poland is in the Schengen zone and so you will have to pass through the non-Schengen/Schengen border check. The other piece of bad news is that the Embraer 175 will probably depart from what is known as the Fokker farm i.e. you will be bussed out to the aircraft. 55 minutes is possible but you will need things to go for you. Is there not a direct SLC-AMS flight?

If your Delta flight is on time it's should be easy peasie. Around that time it's normally not that busy at Non-Schengen - Schengen passport control.
And your plane is most likely a KLM cityhopper Embraer 190 not a 175. You have to be patient as the F70 only wil get replaced by E175's somewhere in 2016.

Last two AMS-KRK flights for me they did leave at B20 with a E190 which didn't involve a busride.
On Monday i will travel to KRK again and am quit confident that it involves no busride (plane is E190)

BTW if your BP says for example B18 prepare for a busride if it says B20; you walk to your plane most of the time
(B piers share gates for example B20/B18, left side B20 means plane at gate, right side and lower number B18 means fokker farm and busride)

Enjoy your polish dumplings!

Thanks Ardecos and Grouchy! I missed typed, it is a EMB190. There is no direct SLC-AMS flight but I could switch and either connect in DTW, ATL, or SEA. All would give a little more time (extra 20-35 min depending on the city). I like the PDX routing because the weather is always good and it has the shortest connection state-side but I know my husband will be seriously concerned about the AMS connect time. He would very upset with me if we missed the connection...I had to hard sell him on the short trip in mid-Dec!

Well with one flight to KRK each day and your short holiday (& for your husband's piece of mind) better safe then sorry and add another 20-35 min to your connection time.
On the other hand..spending a day in AMS

If you have some spare time left in Krakow i would recommend a visit at the Auschwitz concentration camp, it's only a 55 minutes drive west from Krakow, pretty impressive.

I'm going to be transiting in AMS from delta business elite coming from EWR, arriving around 7:45 am during the week and then transferring to KLM business to JRO. I have roughly 2.5 hours to transfer assuming all flights on time. We won't be checking bags anyway. Is that enough time?

Yes, plenty of time! You can buy a giant wheel of cheese or some wooden shoes.

Thanks! I don't know what sounds better, the shoes or the cheese!

or, buy some stroopwafels!

+1 agree. Non-Schengen to Non-Schengen tends to be rather seamless; well, at least it's supposed to be. 2.5 hours is a lot of time (and if you depart EWER on time, you'll probably even get to the gate in AMS a "bit" early...)

I "believe" DL to other carriers at AMS is 1 hour 30 minutes.

AMS transfer question

Happy Thanksgiving All,

I am in Berlin at the moment and flying back to DFW Saturday.

KLM: TXL-AMS 1.5H stop
DL: DFW-MSP
DL: MSP-DFW

Can anyone please let me know if the stopover time is OK? Also I am a bit confused if there is a US Pre-Clearance in AMS?? If so where???

Thanks again and happy holidays.

1.5 hrs was enough for my last trip.
AF: MRS - AMS
DL: AMS-ATL

At passport control in AMS there was a Priority Lane that was fast.

If you are running late, the folks at AMS will help expedite you,
immigration people were actively asking anyone in the line if their
flight was imminent to go with them - special line - quick.

Delta had additional passport check/security right before their gates - not sure if that's what you mean by pre-clearance.

There is no Pre-clearance in AMS. You'll have to clear customs & immigration at your entry point in the US.

How are you getting from AMS to DFW?

Yep, "basically" like (almost) all other European "hub" airports
