Minimum connection time at AMS
Note: when determining the airline for MCT purposes, what counts is who markets the flight, not who operates it.

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL: 50 minutes

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL, DL-KL, or DL-DL: 25 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL or KL-DL: 90 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-KL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL or DL-KL: 60 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-DL, DL-KL, or KL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL: anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours--it depends on the flight numbers and the dates. I've posted the raw output below to help you figure out which MCT will apply.

Hello everyone. I have an upcoming return leg from Tel Aviv, and am curious as to whether or not 75 Minutes is sufficient connection time.

TLV-AMS-MSP. Thanks in advance

Edit: I forgot to add that it's a KLM operated itinerary

SporkLover: I think that's on the tight side but doable if all goes well. That said, even a slight delay on the first leg would make it very tight. You might check flightstats.com for that flight's on-time record.

Transfer + Duty free shopping

We are headed PDX-AMS-VCE DL->KLM
We have 1:55 transfer time.
We need to buy some booze for our cruise and apartment stay in Venice.

Questions:
1. enough time for shopping?
2 do we shop duty free before or after passport control?

Thanks

Sorry, but you can't shop duty free in AMS when you are connecting to other parts of europe! Only when you have an connecting flight leaving the EU. You should do the shopping in PDX.

BUD-AMS-PDX

I have an hour and 35 minutes between flights, anyone have experience with this on a Sunday morning? (late Sept). There is only one NS a day to PDX, so missing the connection means rerouting and layovers and delays in getting home. Any tricks? (Should I check my bag or carry it on?) Thanks.

Hi

Im travelling in oct edinburgh to san francisco via ams. arrive at 8.35 n depart at 9.50

is this enough time to make the connection? when i check my bag in at edinburgh will it be carried sraight onto my end destination or will i need to claim it again at schiphol? also will i need to go through passport control etc again.

slightly worried as everyone says schiphol is a massive aiport and having never been i dont know.

my itinery was all booked through with delta airlines at the one time-does this make a differance if say i did miss the connection?

any help would be much appreciated! thanks

Welcome to FT!

If everything is on one ticket, you'll check your bag at EDI and won't see it again until SFO. At AMS, you won't need to clear passport control, assuming your routing is EDI-AMS-SFO, since you'll just be in the non-Schengen area. You will clear security before boarding, but security is at the gates in the non-Schengen area of AMS. The minimum connection time published for your connection at AMS is 50 minutes, so you should be in great shape. Just look at the monitors and the terminal maps after getting off the flight from EDI and be on your way.

If you do miss your connection, DL and KL will take care of you. Just find a transfer desk (they're all over) and ask for assistance. The AMS-SFO flight is early enough in the day that there should be plenty of options to get you to the US on DL or KL flights. I think you'll be just fine unless there's a big delay out of EDI.

Brooke,

You'll have no trouble at Schiphol at all. I fly out of AMS regularly and the last three times I've been there, it's take me 30 minutes or less to get from arriving by train to sitting inside the gate - with check-in and security and, on two occasions, passport control for non-Schengen flights. It's a very efficient airport.

No, just follow the signs to your gate as arrivals/departures/transfers are not separated at AMS.

50 Minute International Connection- No Problem

A few days ago, I had a 50 minute connection time after an overnight flight from BOS. I am pleased to report that this went fine, with time to spare! And that included a short line at passport control, a repeat security check just after passport control, and a trip from the E gates over to the C gates a good 15 minutes before the ongoing flight started boarding.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I had to stop at one of those transfer kiosks to get a boarding pass for the second flight.

This is good to hear. Going MEM-AMS-BCN with only an hour connection.

Cutting it close but if the flight isn't delayed (hopefully a bit early) you should make it. Walk from E-dock to C-dock isn't long and immigration/security should not have any extraordinary long queues at that time.

Time for security?

I have an upcoming flight with 70 minutes to connect TLV-AMS-JFK. I know that it's more than the minimum 50 minutes, but will it take extra time to go through security on a flight to the US?

Also, does anyone know on which concourse KLM's TLV-AMS flight arrives (I'm trying to figure out if it's a sprint or a marathon).

Thanks,
Asher
