Connection CDG
I have booked on DL 118 (JFK - CDG) with a connection to Delhi on Air France. For various reasons I had to make them as two separate reservations, so Delta will not check bags through to DEL. The connection time is just under 2 hours. The return is similiar, although both on Air France (but again two separate reservations, so bags can't be checked through). Connection time is about 90 minutes there.
I'm concerned there's not enough time to clear customs and recheck baggage. Has anyone had similiar experiences with this connection? Any help would be appreciated.

This thread may be of some help regarding your CDG connection. As far as two different itineraries, they most likely can check bags all the way through, especially since they are on SkyTeam carriers which have an interline agreement. You may have to "re-check in" in CDG, but you should be able to have you bags transfered.

DL118 arrives into Terminal 2E and AF148 to DEL leaves from 2A. 2A is the second stop on the connections bus after you get on at 2E - about a 7-10 minute bus ride.

I have had no problems with AF checking through my baggage on separate tickets.

Too tight connection at CDG?
My 15 year old son is travelling as UM from NCE to JFK via CDG. His AF arrives from NCE into CDG at 7:55AM on Sun Aug 31. The AF flight supposedly arrives terminal 2F at CDG. His DL 119 to JFK leaves from 2E at 9:00AM on same day.
Is this too tight? Supposedly 45 minutes is legal connection time. AF personnel will hand him over to DL personnel in CDG. Seem like it should wrk but don't know how far 2E is from 2F.
Thanks for any helpful hints.

2E and 2F sort of face each other at one end of the airport and are not very far apart, about a 10 minute walk maximum. An hour five should be plenty of time to walk over, especially with the guide that the airline should provide for an unaccompanied minor.

Not enough time unless things go perfectly...

I also don't know how AF treats UMs, but DL often deplanes them LAST, which will just add to the delay.
Bottom line - If he is on a jetway in the terminal he may be OK, but otherwise, I would book a longer layover to minimize chances of mishaps and minimize stress.
There are free Sony Playstations in the new terminal, so I am sure that he will not mind the layover!

I disagree with the last poster. Since this is an internal flight, there is a) no passport control stop, only a security check, necessary for milesmilesmiles' son, although Task Force DL does need it to clear his non-Schengen arrivals, and b) in my experience, with the terminals now all functional, the French internal Airbus flights get jetways. Even if he were to be bussed, there would need to be a delay on the inbound for him to have a problem.
As far as the deplaning is concerned, just make sure the boy has told the FA on his flight that he might have a tight connection and would need to deplane among the first group.

Thanks for the responses. Both DL and AF supposedly have in their record locators that they are connecting with one another.

The fact that he has an escort through CDG will ease the connecting burden significantly.
Side note: a friend of mine thinks CDG is "worse" than LHR for connections....

So what's wrong with the NCE-JFK nonstop flight DL 83 which leaves NCE at 1030AM or so?

I will go back to CO to see if DL 83 is available as an abundance of caution.
