My (LoganFlyer's) guide to maximizing your bump chances on Delta:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/30484249-post1713.html
(The concise version:
1. Use the App to see if more people are looking for seats than there are seats available. As part of the Customer Commitment, gate agents, phone res agents, and tickets agents must tell you if a flight is overbooked if you ask. (They don't need to say by how many seats.)
2. Do everything you can to get on the volunteer list through OLCI or a kiosk at the airport, since some GAs use that list.
3. Talk to the GA as soon as the gate opens up--don't wait for them to make an announcement.
4. Don't be afraid to negotiate with the GA.)

ATL was a nightmare today. Booked ORF-ATL-SEA-PSC, 2 hours before departure got a call for $200 voucher or 20,000 sky miles for later flight that got in sooner due to overbooked ATL-SEA leg. On rebooked ATL-SLC leg, got $800 voucher to spend night in SLC. There wer about 25 on the standby list. On shuttle to Residence Inn everyone had at least one bump out of SLC, some with two bumps.
Sooo, how does Delta decide who to call offering bumps? This was the first time I got a call.

I'm trying to spend my $800 which I received almost a year ago, and I'm running into an issue which I can't quite understand.
Trying to book CPH-LAS next year for my so and myself, which comes to a total of 7,312 DKK. The eCredit is worth 5,311 DKK, so I should only have to pay 2,001 DKK and yet I'm being asked to pay 3,656 DKK, which is the full price of one ticket. The eCredit is basically only being applied to one passenger instead of the full booking.
Is this normal behaviour and is there some way of getting the eCredit to be applied to the full price? I'm calling Delta tomorrow when they open, so I'm just hoping that someone here knows more than me until then
Thanks!

DTW-AMS 11MAY17 in Delta One. Oversold and GA came on-board requesting volunteers thus scored 2x$3,000 vouchers. Delay was 6 hours. Also 4x$15 food vouchers. ^

The storms in NYC on May 25 resulted in a lot of oversold flights on May 26.
LGA-MCI, needed 5-6 volunteers, started at $600, finished at $1,000, to take LGA-ATL-MCI and arrive 5-6 hours later.

Decent voucher day today at PIT.
Had a 10:30am (roughly) via Detroit to Milwaukee. Oversold, got $600 voucher, plus food vouchers, to take flights (same route) about 3 hours later.
Then that flight was oversold, so got another $800 to travel home via ATL, which gets me there only an hour later than the first re-scheduled flight.
So basically $1400 for 5 hours of delay/airport time.

Looking at booking a trip in Aug/Sept. returning to NYC around Labor Day. Do most think Monday being Labor Day or Tuesday after is a busier day with higher likelihood of being bumped?

As I have posted in other VDB forums, there are likely days for oversales, but there ultimately is no way to really predict. It's all chance. Most of my VDB's have been on Fridays and Sundays, for instance.... and this does not depend on holidays.
