Congratuations on Becoming a Delta Air Lines Million Miler!

I'll hit the million mile mark in the next few weeks. Exactly what will Delta do to honor this milestone? I recall hearing something about nifty stationery and permanent SM status. I'll pass on the stationery, but the SM would be nice, looking ahead to the time when my travel diminishes to the point that I might not be able to otherwise qualify. Is there anything else and does Delta really consider it to be a big deal?

Don't pass on the stationery. More often than not- at least in the old days, but maybe again, when you write on that stationery to a Delta executive you get a real reply- I have had VPs or executive support staff call me in response to those letters.

The SM lifetime status is nice. I'm not sure, but I also think the MM also puts you higher on the wait lists than others in your same status level. Does anybody else know anything about this?

mmgm Feb 24, 2000 8:12 am

I have asked about the waitlists. The MM status is not considered by the computer or the personnel.

AusTXHiker Feb 25, 2000 8:30 am

mhbaker, unfortunately, DL places more importance on your current Medallion status. As mmgm pointed out, GMs will be higher on the waitlist than SM-MM. Also, the MM stationery doesn't necessarily get you a personal response. I've received form letters even though I used the MM stationery.

AusTXHiker, you are correct that GM is higher on the list than SM-MM, but a GM-MM is higher than "just" GM. That's what one friendly CRC person explained to me. Similarly, PM always trumps any other Medallion levels, Million Milers, Flying Colonels, etc.

And SM-MM is higher on the list that SM, while SM-MM-FC is higher than either. I agree that GM is higher than SM-MM, etc. The important thing, though, is being nice to the person you're dealing with. He/she has a lot more influence than your "status".

Being a MM also gets you a free gift you choose from a limited selection. However, mine was very nice. The SM for life is very helpfull if your travel habits change I would think.

thanks,

luis

A Million Miles and Counting

I passed a milestone in my flying this weekend by having my millionth mile posted to my Delta account. (Notice that I didn't say I flew my millionth mile because there have been so many screw-ups on the account that I believe I passed the millionth flewn mile a while back).

Unfortunately I had to pick a flight where I had a U-fare ticket http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif so I didn't get to see any immediate gratification for my long and loyal partnership with PanAm, American and Delta (yes all three have contributed to my newfound status - I'm sure that puts me in a not-too frequent club of MM:s).

I did get my hopes up a bit though, when the flight attendant discreetly dropped a linen table cloth from first on the free seat next to me (10B on an MD-90) but the expected meal to follow the linen never materialized.

Oh, well, better luck at 2MM http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Congratulations! I wonder if they still are giving out the Tumi portfolios as a gift I received a couple years ago along with stationery, lifetime MM silver medallion card, etc. You'll have to let us know what you've receive.

L-1011, keep us posted on the gift that you receive. Perhaps you will receive an autographed picture of Leo holding an FT991.
