I booked
ATL-(JFK)-YUL-ATL in F for 45k
This was booked two days before travel, though there was lots of low level award availability in Y and F for several weeks out.
Departing on Fri and returning on Mon.
Was able to get my preferred routing and flight times and equipment:
ATL-JFK on a 75E (that's the one with BE configuration)
JFK-YUL in Y on a CRJ.
YUL-ATL in F on a CR9.
Fare on this is north of $2k, so that's 4.5 CPM

Scored 5 tix for 50K a piece on from MSP-ATL-GDL on 5/28 and then PVR-ATL-MSP on 6/6 with about 23 days notice. Coach fares were above $800. $4000+ or 250,000 miles. That's about 1.6+ CPM. I'm cool with that.

I have not been observing the FF programs for years, despite the fact that I have been accumulating a significant number of Delta Skymiles. I was used to the awards programs of the past in which I could use say 30,000 miles for a RT coach ticket in the Continental US. Looking now at the Delta reservation side, it appears that you now use miles to offset the posted ticket cost at 10,000 for each $100 of fare. Is that just an another way of using miles in addition to the Award Ticket or is this the only way to use Skymiles now? And if the Award Ticket program is no longer used at Delta, is this the same across the board for other airlines? Yikes! I feel as if I had just woken up from a Rip Van Winkle sleep to discover that a pay phone call costs $10.

You're talking about Pay With Miles - only available to you if you have a DL co-branded AmEx, and the redemption rate is 10k mi=$100 off your ticket.
It is not the only way to redeem. There's still the standard redemption method, but I highly recommend since your return that you do some reading here and at DL.com on how it works (or doesn't work) these days. Rip Van Winkle-itis is an understatement.

FLL-ATL-PHX in Y on 14 May
PHX-ATL-FLL in Y on 17 May
Outbound flight was the first (very early morning) departure out of FLL (only one available that day at the lowest award level) but that's what I wanted anyway. All legs were preferred flight times.
Done for 25K + $85. I was pleasantly surprised.

On May 5, I booked MSP-BNA RT 18-22 Nov in coach. 25K miles. Kept it on hold (ticketing deadline today). I really wanted a return 2 hours earlier than the one that was available, so figured I can SDC. Well, just before ticketing today I checked again and the earlier flight is available. So I could rebook onto that flight before ticketing. Availability changes constantly! Cash price would be $400 RT.

MPS to NRT
MSP to NRT
I've been trying to book this for 3-4 months and was finally able to get 3 seats (on the same flights!) using 60,000 miles each. I didn't get the exact dates I wanted, but close enough.
We are non-stop from MSP to NRT, but will be changing in Seattle on the way home.

DTW-HNL
HNL-DTW
Booked two tickets out in Feb 2011. Round trip on each was 135K, but for direct flights on an A333 in First class, definitely worth it.
Does anyone know if the A333 direct flight domesciatlly offers the same level of dining/service/drinks as a hop across the pond flying to Europe in Intl Business Class?

got CVG - HNL for 80,000 miles in Y for 2, with $20 in taxes, on a friday - sunday[10 days] in January. It will be packed planes, and most probably bumping in the works... I remember how they needed 10 volunteers last year on the same route(HNL-LAX). : )

I booked three J tickets IAD-CDG-LHR (stopover)-AMS (final destination)-CDG-IAD on AF and KL in August. Total 100k each. Goes without saying that in all my searches following the advice on looking for low J tickets I didn't see a single low Delta flight in Y or J.
