I've burned thru around 450K miles the past four years, and only twice needed to resort to SkyChoice rewards. Many times a SkySaver was not available for Y, but it was available for F ... and for 10K less miles I'll take a F seat thank you. I've had the pleasure of visiting friends, and also of having family (who could not have afforded to travel) be able to visit me

On a couple occasions I neede to leave/return a day earlier or later than what I originally was looking to do, but with several weeks to go before my departure date there was no heartburn on my part. One time I was even able to book a pair SkySaver F tickets on 18 hours notice when a dear friend passed away unexpectedly

The only people I know who complain about not being able to use their miles are those who have unrealistic expectations on how the airlines distribute 'free' tickets

all the best,

GMF

Dec 31 BKK-CDG-BCN
Jan 3 BCN-CDG-EZE
Jan 21 GIG-ATL-HNL
Jan 27 HNL-NRT-ICN
Jan 29 ICN-SYD
Feb 15 SYD-ICN-BKK

Booked this 2 months ago. Business class RTW, 220K miles. Will miss the new year's even party but have no choice as that is the only AF flight available during that whole period. Cannot make it to Middle EAst and South Africa this time due to time constrain but I really look forward to Argentina and Brazil.

SQ F again

So I have been able to go 100% on scoring SQ F seats when I want to travel. I will be on the SYD-SIN A380 flight and was able to score 1 F award with about an hours work and a creative stop on NRT on the dates I need. It will be one hell of a crazy week!

ILM-ATL-LAX - DL F/Y (ASA leg)
LAX-NRT-SIN - SQ F
SIN-SYD - SQ Y (purchased 1 way)
SYD-SIN - A380!
SIN-NRT-LAX - SQ F
LAX-ATL-ILM - DL F/Y (ASA leg)

JoelA, if you are flying from Florida to Israel in the summer, you are really in for a hot time.

(On the good side, you won't have to pack any heavy clothing.)

SQ First Again

Last minute SQ First SFO - BKK.

Actually SFO - SIN in First.
Then I will be in the SKL pleading my case for SIN - BKK in First usually works.

Its is a shame that SQ has not opened up award seats on their new 77W's

Rebadc, did you get a roundtrip SFO-BKK-SFO (via SIN)? One seat, I take it?

I am trying to get 2 seats on JFK-SIN-JFK in F and wonder if this is even possible!

Got 3 SkySaver Coach ORD-ATL-MDW 10/6-10/8. Could've got MDW-ATL but the flight left too late in the day for what I needed, so I took ORD-ATL, which had plenty of SkySaver tickets. Got my preferred time on ATL-MDW. ATL-ORD had tons of Saver tickets also. ^
