All,

A wikipost seemed to be useful for this thread to help FTers find the most current infomation regarding DL's Status Match Challenge.

SKYMILES MEDALLION® STATUS MATCH CHALLENGE

Official Delta Site and Sign-Up

Status Match Period:
90 Days

MQM/MQS Qualifying Flights must be flown on Delta, Delta Connection or Partner Flights:
In order to extend your Medallion status after the 90 days, you'll need to earn a specific number of Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) or Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs) within the 90 days of enrolling by flying Delta or Delta Connection®, and partner airlines.

Comparable Status:
  • DL Silver Medallion (FO) - AA Gold; UA Premier Silver; AS MVP
  • DL Gold Medallion (GM) - AA Platinum; UA Premier Gold; AS MVP Gold
  • DL Platinum Medallion (PM) - AA Executive Platinum; UA 1K; AS MVP Gold 75K
  • DL Diamond Medallion (DM) - DL does not typically match to DM.
From dl.com: If you have status with another airline not listed above, you may still be eligible for this challenge. Please submit your information below to confirm eligibility.

MQM / MQS Requirement:
  • FO: 6,250 MQMs or 8 MQSs and $750MQD or MQD waiver
  • GM: 12,500 MQMs or 15 MQSs and $1500MQD or MQD waiver
  • PM: 18,750 MQMs or 25 MQSs and $2250MQD or MQD waiver
"MQMs/MQSs/MQDs earned through other sources, including but not limited to SkyMiles Credit Cards, do not count towards the challenge."

Criteria for Participation:
  • Member has not received a status match or complimentary Medallion status in the past three years
  • Is currently a non-Medallion member
  • Must present valid and current elite credential or statement showing elite status from another airline
  • Status being matched must be earned and not complementary.

Other Notes from dl.com:
  • A physical Medallion membership card will not be issued for the 90-day qualification period. You may enjoy Medallion benefits on Delta or Delta Connection by providing your SkyMiles number when making reservations or at check-in. You can also access your Membership Card through the Fly Delta app. During the 90-day period, you will not have access to all reciprocal Medallion benefits with Delta's partner airlines, including access to SkyTeam® lounges.
  • Members who are matched to Platinum Medallion status will not be eligible for Choice Benefits until the flight requirement to maintain Platinum Medallion status is met.
  • Through this offer, you may maintain the same or lower Medallion status level as your matched status. If you are matched to Silver Medallion status, you will not be able to earn Gold Medallion status through this offer, even if you will fly more than 12,500 MQMs or 15 MQSs during the offer period. But if you have been matched to Gold Medallion status and you only fly 6,250 MQMs or 8 MQSs, you will earn Silver Medallion status. Your Medallion status will be returned to non-Medallion status if you are unable to complete the minimum flight requirement before the end of the 90-day period.
  • Medallion status match is only offered for Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion levels.

When to request:
  • Requests from 1/1 - 6/30 will receive status through 1/31 of the following year.
  • Requests from 7/1 - 12/31 will receive status through 1/31 of the second year.

Corporate accounts:
Depending on your company's agreement with Delta, you may have different qualification requirements and/or an alternate method of requesting a status match or challenge. Check your company's intranet or travel manager.

The qualification period runs from March 1- May 31. The status would be in effect through 2/29/04. Is it worth it???? 12,000 for GM seems like it may be.</font>

Well, any time you can get status for less than what 99% of other passengers can, I would definitely say it is worth it.

Are these miles or MQM's?

Straight 1 for 1 miles, but ULT doesn't count. No extra credit for Y or F.

Delta elite match

Sorry if this topic has been covered before, does Delta do elite status match any longer? If so, can you advise on details?
Thanks!

Hi sggolf....not sure if DL does an elite status match but I do have a question for you. From which airline elite program are you wishing to bail out ?? Guessing it's Aeroflot or Xiamen Airlines if there is something you see attractive in what DL is offering for the future.
Just curious....

What is Delta's policy regarding status match for other FFP top tier customers?

I am a top tier member of a Star Alliance FFP and I have heard rumors that Delta would match that status upon receiving proof of the other airline's status.

Has anyone of you ever tried this - and possibly successfully??

Any advice is appreciated!

It has probably been a long time since anyone asked to get comped into Delta status...

Will Delta Air Lines Match Elite Status From Another Airline?

Do you think Delta would match my United Mileage Plus status?

I flew Delta 10,000+ miles with them in 2.5 months span, but ended up flying United a bit more. I expect to fly Delta a bit more, but is wondering should I atempt to ask for matching status?

If so, who would I contact?

Thanks.

Searching on "status match" brings up 55 threads. You can probably find all the information you need there.

From the Status Match Master thread over in Miles Buzz (Great thread by the way!!)

Delta

Will match status, generally to equivalent level up to Gold (mid-tier)

Send a copy of your current elite statement or elite card along with a note explaining you'd like to shift your busy to them if they'll match your current status to:

Delta Skymiles Service Center
Attn: Elite Status Match
Via fax: 404-715-9220

[Edit] There are recent reports of Delta offering "challenges" in response to status match requests -- that is, fly x segments in y days for status.

I am Plat Exec on AA flying 200,000 miles thi syear and 1k on UA flying 150,000 miles this year, all in Biz or First. I also flew Delta about 20,000 miles this year (all in biz). I asked them to comp me to the top level on their program and showed them the miles I fly (for the past 3 years) All they would do is comp me to Silver level which I found rather shortsighted. I wrote back to them in a very polite way explaining that I could not justify moving my business if that is all they valued my potential biz. I am guessing they costthemselves about $75-100,000 in business from me as I would have flown them about 150,000 miles in 2004 in Biz and first. Makes no sense to me but I guess thats delta.

They will comp Gold, but it helps to get a corporate travel agent involved (I assume the bulk of your travel is business). Have the agent work with Delta.

Yogi, You must have gotten a bad apple over at DL as I had an associate who was Gold on NW get comped to Gold on DL mid year. I would try again.

I just sent my request to United to be comped based on my Delta status. I spent $50k with Delta this year, and accumulated 57k base miles. I'm going to give United a try in 2004. I have said it before, and here it is again, $800 for a L ticket is simply wrong. I will fly my weekly trip to Denver via United, full credit for mileage and saves me $396 per trip.

Comp to Medalion??

Hi,
I'm new to this board.

I am a Gold Usairways level and need to start flying Delta....

Will Delta comp me to a comparable level?

If so, how do I do this, what do I need?

Thank you
(ps--couldn't find anything in search)
