All,

A wikipost seemed to be useful for this thread to help FTers find the most current infomation regarding DL's Status Match Challenge.

SKYMILES MEDALLION® STATUS MATCH CHALLENGE

Official Delta Site and Sign-Up

Status Match Period:
90 Days

MQM/MQS Qualifying Flights must be flown on Delta, Delta Connection or Partner Flights:
In order to extend your Medallion status after the 90 days, you'll need to earn a specific number of Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) or Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs) within the 90 days of enrolling by flying Delta or Delta Connection®, and partner airlines.

Comparable Status:
  • DL Silver Medallion (FO) - AA Gold; UA Premier Silver; AS MVP
  • DL Gold Medallion (GM) - AA Platinum; UA Premier Gold; AS MVP Gold
  • DL Platinum Medallion (PM) - AA Executive Platinum; UA 1K; AS MVP Gold 75K
  • DL Diamond Medallion (DM) - DL does not typically match to DM.
From dl.com: If you have status with another airline not listed above, you may still be eligible for this challenge. Please submit your information below to confirm eligibility.

MQM / MQS Requirement:
  • FO: 6,250 MQMs or 8 MQSs and $750MQD or MQD waiver
  • GM: 12,500 MQMs or 15 MQSs and $1500MQD or MQD waiver
  • PM: 18,750 MQMs or 25 MQSs and $2250MQD or MQD waiver
"MQMs/MQSs/MQDs earned through other sources, including but not limited to SkyMiles Credit Cards, do not count towards the challenge."

Criteria for Participation:
  • Member has not received a status match or complimentary Medallion status in the past three years
  • Is currently a non-Medallion member
  • Must present valid and current elite credential or statement showing elite status from another airline
  • Status being matched must be earned and not complementary.

Other Notes from dl.com:
  • A physical Medallion membership card will not be issued for the 90-day qualification period. You may enjoy Medallion benefits on Delta or Delta Connection by providing your SkyMiles number when making reservations or at check-in. You can also access your Membership Card through the Fly Delta app. During the 90-day period, you will not have access to all reciprocal Medallion benefits with Delta's partner airlines, including access to SkyTeam® lounges.
  • Members who are matched to Platinum Medallion status will not be eligible for Choice Benefits until the flight requirement to maintain Platinum Medallion status is met.
  • Through this offer, you may maintain the same or lower Medallion status level as your matched status. If you are matched to Silver Medallion status, you will not be able to earn Gold Medallion status through this offer, even if you will fly more than 12,500 MQMs or 15 MQSs during the offer period. But if you have been matched to Gold Medallion status and you only fly 6,250 MQMs or 8 MQSs, you will earn Silver Medallion status. Your Medallion status will be returned to non-Medallion status if you are unable to complete the minimum flight requirement before the end of the 90-day period.
  • Medallion status match is only offered for Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion levels.

When to request:
  • Requests from 1/1 - 6/30 will receive status through 1/31 of the following year.
  • Requests from 7/1 - 12/31 will receive status through 1/31 of the second year.

Corporate accounts:
Depending on your company's agreement with Delta, you may have different qualification requirements and/or an alternate method of requesting a status match or challenge. Check your company's intranet or travel manager.

I status-matched from 1K to Plat on DL at the end of last year. You will have to fly a large number of miles within three months of being matched to retain that status, which may be difficult in the circumstances. I had to stop flying earlier in the year, missed the three-month deadline, and was later reduced to Gold as a result.

Applied for match at the end of April (3+ weeks ago.) no response so far.

A couple of days ago I direct messaged Delta on Twitter. They said they were busy with Covid stuff, but would pass it on to the SkyMiles people (who would get to it when they weren't so busy.)

I did ask that they back-date it to May 1 as I had/have enough flights from then forward to qualify.

Newbie here, so please be gentle! I'd be grateful if one of the experts here could validate my understanding?

Was considering getting a match from either my BA Gold / LH Senator cards, which I believe both match to Platinum. Again from my reading that's 18,750 MQM's required in 3 months. I'm UK based so I believe there is no MQD requirement too?

I'd be looking to book a Z fare which I understand credits 150% MQMs. From my reading, I can fly any of the four transatlantic joint business partners (AF/DL/KL/VS) with any combination of marketing flight number and underlying metal as they all credit 150% on a Z fare. As long as the total distance exceeds 12,500 miles (as it'll be multiplied by 1.5 for a Z fare) then I'm good? Thanks in advance!

Did some quick research on the Delta website and did not find relevant info, so ask here:

1. For Germany based members, does Delta require minimum 4 flight segments in order to be qualified for any tier of status? For example, United requires so - even if you have 200K elite qualifying miles, but if you did not fly at least 4 United flights, you have no status with United
2. Does Delta waive EQD for overseas based members? For example, AA/ UA both do not waive EQD - for AA, a certain formular will be used to calculate partner flights EQD and you will have to meet minimum 15K EQD to be qualified to their highest tier...

Thanks!

Tommys888 no/yes

You still might want to read the wiki and Delta's terms and conditions on the challenge which would have answered these questions. Seems unlikely the forum's gonna spoon-feed you all the other details.

On what date was your original submission sent? I’m sitting at two weeks with no response, and also did not receive the above. Hoping it gets processed before some long haul travel in 3 weeks’ time.

I sent my request in months ago right before March but since I was put I didnt bother.

This is just a generic email sent to respond to a failed response.

I believe the point of the email is to re-apply. So I would suggest you re-apply right away.. you should be able to get a response in a matter of (business) days.

Has anyone restarted their status match challenge yet? Did you have to reapply through the usual process, and provide evidence again? What if your other airline's status has expired in the mean time - does that mean you couldn't restart the status match challenge?

Dear All,

Need your help. I am an EXPLAT in AA. Sent in the screenshot of my account to Delta for documentation (as I have no idea where my physical card is). They just emailed me back and said, "Thank you for sending a copy of your statement, however we also require a card that has your name, status, and expiration date on it. A physical or digital card will work. "

Where do I print a digital card like this on AA.com or on the AA app?

Many thanks in advance!

For the iPhone app,
  • Click on the box with your name, status, and mileage balance towards the top of the screen.
  • Swipe up from the menu at the bottom that shows Promotions and Wallet.
  • The last menu option is View AAdvantage card. Click that to generate the digital card. You can also add it to your Apple Wallet.
Good luck!

Dear Matt,

That worked!! Had to borrow an iPhone to do it, as the Android App does not show the digital card with the expiry date.

You rock!

Warm Regards,

Trying to figure out whether a status match is worth it and whether I'll really get anything out of it. Currently WN A-List Preferred (former UA flyer). Do a lot of flying within CA so WN fits me. I have two transcons coming up. The only two airlines I'm considering are DL and WN due to their middle seat blocking policy. WN really doesn't have options to get me where I'm going due to reduced schedules, so DL seems like the winner. My question is whether I should go for the status match for those 2 flights? I'd be Gold for 3 months, but would that get me anything? Maybe some Comfort+ upgrades? Maybe an upgrade to F? Free baggage doesn't really matter since it'll be on the company. Might have a third transcon in December (but it might push to January). How are Gold's faring right now for upgrades?
