All,

A wikipost seemed to be useful for this thread to help FTers find the most current infomation regarding DL's Status Match Challenge.

SKYMILES MEDALLION® STATUS MATCH CHALLENGE

Official Delta Site and Sign-Up

Status Match Period:
90 Days

MQM/MQS Qualifying Flights must be flown on Delta, Delta Connection or Partner Flights:
In order to extend your Medallion status after the 90 days, you'll need to earn a specific number of Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) or Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs) within the 90 days of enrolling by flying Delta or Delta Connection®, and partner airlines.

Comparable Status:
  • DL Silver Medallion (FO) - AA Gold; UA Premier Silver; AS MVP
  • DL Gold Medallion (GM) - AA Platinum; UA Premier Gold; AS MVP Gold
  • DL Platinum Medallion (PM) - AA Executive Platinum; UA 1K; AS MVP Gold 75K
  • DL Diamond Medallion (DM) - DL does not typically match to DM.
From dl.com: If you have status with another airline not listed above, you may still be eligible for this challenge. Please submit your information below to confirm eligibility.

MQM / MQS Requirement:
  • FO: 6,250 MQMs or 8 MQSs and $750MQD or MQD waiver
  • GM: 12,500 MQMs or 15 MQSs and $1500MQD or MQD waiver
  • PM: 18,750 MQMs or 25 MQSs and $2250MQD or MQD waiver
"MQMs/MQSs/MQDs earned through other sources, including but not limited to SkyMiles Credit Cards, do not count towards the challenge."

Criteria for Participation:
  • Member has not received a status match or complimentary Medallion status in the past three years
  • Is currently a non-Medallion member
  • Must present valid and current elite credential or statement showing elite status from another airline
  • Status being matched must be earned and not complementary.

Other Notes from dl.com:
  • A physical Medallion membership card will not be issued for the 90-day qualification period. You may enjoy Medallion benefits on Delta or Delta Connection by providing your SkyMiles number when making reservations or at check-in. You can also access your Membership Card through the Fly Delta app. During the 90-day period, you will not have access to all reciprocal Medallion benefits with Delta's partner airlines, including access to SkyTeam® lounges.
  • Members who are matched to Platinum Medallion status will not be eligible for Choice Benefits until the flight requirement to maintain Platinum Medallion status is met.
  • Through this offer, you may maintain the same or lower Medallion status level as your matched status. If you are matched to Silver Medallion status, you will not be able to earn Gold Medallion status through this offer, even if you will fly more than 12,500 MQMs or 15 MQSs during the offer period. But if you have been matched to Gold Medallion status and you only fly 6,250 MQMs or 8 MQSs, you will earn Silver Medallion status. Your Medallion status will be returned to non-Medallion status if you are unable to complete the minimum flight requirement before the end of the 90-day period.
  • Medallion status match is only offered for Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion levels.

When to request:
  • Requests from 1/1 - 6/30 will receive status through 1/31 of the following year.
  • Requests from 7/1 - 12/31 will receive status through 1/31 of the second year.

Corporate accounts:
Depending on your company's agreement with Delta, you may have different qualification requirements and/or an alternate method of requesting a status match or challenge. Check your company's intranet or travel manager.

Hello. I earned Southwest A-List and Companion Pass last year (good for this year), but the website only shows my flights YTD for this year. What can I send to show status earned rather than comped?

I am a DP for rollover; it’s based entirely on earned status. Last year after a successful match to platinum, I rolled over 17k MQM after reaching 42k MQM for the year (and slightly under $6k MQD).

You definitely do not need to earn above your matched status.

Are you sure this is a requirement? I didn't see that specified anywhere in the terms on the website.

In fact, one of the criteria listed is "You have not received a Status Match or complimentary Medallion Status in the past three years, unless the complimentary Medallion Status was through your Million Miler Status," which implies that Million Milers (Medallion members) can enroll in the status match challenge (presumably for a higher level of status).

Well, it used to be listed as a condition. It's possible they relaxed it, or maybe they only relaxed it for million milers.

calling worked for me, the agent put me on hold while she fished out my case number, verified docs ok with online support desk, and forwarded to their status match liaison. One thing though, she did mention that they have been explicitly told not to expedite status match requests via twitter

Thanks! Will call soon.

And... minutes later at 06:11 EDT the email arrives. So for United flyers, the old app front and back image worked and I just printed the first account page showing my name, FF number, gold status. I was a bit worried about "earned" because I am MM and was probably just short of actually "earning" it. But I think Delta might consider being a million miler as being earned status anyway? I have zero miles with UA/*A this year.... mainly because of where I live.

So the current timing is 16 days! For the wiki page....

I think I am going to qualify just on two Korean Air legs in business Fiji-ICN-AMS. Sadly they are discontinuing the first leg of my journey after October...... great business class fares to Europe.

I received my reply from Delta today, it 16 day mark.
It was a rejection.
You recently submitted elite credentials from another airline for participation in Delta’s SkyMiles Medallion Status Match Challenge. We believe the credentials submitted are not valid proof of earned elite status for the program year, therefore we will be unable to enroll you in this offer.

I assume the key word here is "earned" as I asked myself when I applied, how do I show my AS status was earned vs comped ?
I sent in a copy of my current and 2 previous year's AS cards (current to old is 75K/75K/Gold). I felt consecutive years of 75K would show that at least the current year was earned.

I also sent in a copy of my current year's progress fro the AS web. It shows that now, at about 50% thru the current year, that I'm at about 48.5% of the amount to requalify 75K for next year. Do I have to actually requal as 75K this year (for the 2020 program year) for DL to consider ?

There was no request for addition info, just a flat out NO.

I just got my Platinum status challenge completion email. But I think the system looks to be glitchy for sure...

I have about 15000 MQMs, but then also got over the 18500 platinum threshold with 5000 MQM from an AMEX signup bonus. But, I also only have have about $1600 MQD so far during the challenge (and only $1700 total all year), out of the $2250 needed for the challenge. It even says "2020 Status: Platinum Medallion®" on my profile. So I am not sure what the deal is at the moment.

I plan to properly complete the challenge, as it very well could be audited away otherwise.

Did you send it copies of your statement to back your currently status with AS?

Well, I've had an interesting month with my status match so far.

I was approved a few days after my first DL flight this year, so I had reached out and asked (a) if they could backdate my challenge, and (b) if they would match me to DM (never hurts to ask ).

After hearing nothing, I tried a second time with the social media team who said they would put a "note on my account" but of course the status match people are a different desk and they cannot be contacted by mere mortals, etc. Still not a peep from Delta, but one day I log into my account and notice that instead of 11 July - 11 October (original period) my status now says it will last from 7 July (my requested date) to 31 July (!?). I tried several more times (social media, not helpful; called Reservations, impressively unhelpful as it sounded like he couldn't even see any information beyond the fact I had been approved on the 11th and didn't have anyone he could transfer me to; sent an email, no reply as of yet). Meanwhile, my Reserve signup bonus posted, pushing me to 14k MQM so far, and a couple of days later I got emails welcoming me to Silver and Gold Medallion and now my account lists my 2020 status as Gold (I don't have 1500 MQD yet).

This morning, it being August, I logged in expecting my match to have disappeared. However, it now says I am Platinum Medallion from 1 August until 11 October.. so but I guess I'll take it. I also looked in detail and noticed that my first flight's earnings had been retroactively changed to give me the SM as if I had been PM when I took the flight, so someone definitely touched my account at some point. I think my biggest frustration though all of this is that I can't clearly tell what is counting toward my match and what isn't, especially since it seems like my 2020 status is updating based solely on MQM (not MQD) and including my AMEX bonus.

Still not a word from DL on any channel, but I'm starting to realize I am just not flying enough to run out 25% of Diamond anyway (UA 1K was always a stretch, so the extra 25k plus reduced QM earning on DL vs UA is a huge obstacle) so I think I will just expect to complete the Plat challenge and go on with life. But I should probably get 18,750 "real" MQM just in case.

At least all my actual flying with Delta has been pleasant. It's nice to have a different mealset for a change, and preorder is definitely a nice feature. Plus the SCs are miles better than any United lounge in the US.

Thanks for providing this interesting data point! After contacting them by twitter/complaint several times, my case was finally approved 15 days after my submission. I will reach out to them to see if they could backward my starting date a week.

That's the issue.
There is nothing on the AS Web to produce a statement. Not for the current year, much less last year, to show my 75K was "earned".
I can filter the list of "activity" to just flights and within the last 24 months, then export this to excel. But what would make this excel prove anything ??? .... it could be just a spreadsheet that I entered fake flight data into.

Does any airline provide frequent flyer statements anymore ?
What did other AS flyers send in to get "prove" their "earned" AS status ??

Can you take a screenshot of the flight-only activity? That's basically what I did with United.
