Partied with Lee Marvin from ATL to PHX years ago. He was a scream! Invited me to his ranch. Didn't make it.
Sat with Willie Mays JAN to BHM couple of years ago. Really nice guy. He struck up a conversation. Saw him in the BHM airport not too long ago.
Spilled a drink on Dr. J a few months ago. He was really nice!
Sat with Diane Sawyer ATL to LGA. She did not talk and with her body language made it clear she didn't want too.
The wife ran into Judi Dench in an LGW elevator. Mrs Old said to her: "I am so sorry to bother you, but I have to tell you I really enjoy your work. Your are an amazing actress!" Ms Dench was very gracious and told her that it NEVER bothered her to be complimented on her craft and that if no one recognized her or appreciated her work she wouldn't have any work. Also wife flew with Daryl Hannah behind her from STT-ATL. It was when she was dating JFK Jr. She was very quiet.
CRC sightings: We have both seen Jeff Foxworthy "performing" in ATL CRC's. You usually hear him first. He is hysterical.
Also have seen Burt Reynolds making the rounds. He is very friendly.
I am usually tired/busy when I travel and usually don't notice people even when they sit down by me.

I was in the FC security line at LAX at 5:30AM for the first flight to ATL. I turned around and there stood Ron White of Blue Collar Comedy Tour fame. He looked like he hadn't slept so I didn't pester him (too much). I just turned around and said "I just want to shake Mr. Cheese Wheel's hand". He obliged and snickered (listen to his latest album for the reference). We sat in F, but not together . While waiting for the rest of the PAX to leave I talked to him about cigars. I even gave him the website to my favorite Cuban source.

A nice guy who was mini-mobbed when we walked into the terminal in ATL.

Edited for Pharaoh.

Well, I finally heard his name on the local tv news this weekend. They pronounced it "Ahr-toor", just the way it's spelled.

Dave Chappelle on Sunday night SFO - CVG redeye

Last night (Sunday, March 4th). He sat in 3D, I was in 4C. He was the last guy on the plane. Evidently he lives not too far from CVG in Yellow Springs, OH. Got his own bags at baggage claim, seemed like a quiet, laid back guy. A few folks recognized him, but otherwise blended in.

I believe I saw Samuel Jackson on Flight 517 this morning in 4B They were on the plane before anyone boarded. Wouldn't give an autograph (handlers said no)

Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboardist Billy Powell was on DL 1406 ATL-IND this afternoon. They are in concert with .38 Special and Hank Williams Jr. tomorrow night here. He was in 4D. His wife sat in 1A.

Yesterday, LGA-FLL, I sat next to Jerome James, New York Knicks #13. Nice guy! We were in 2A and 2B and he's 7 feet tall, so he really needed the bulkhead aisle.

Wesley Snipes

17-Apr-07 at 12:15 PM ATL to EWR. Man he looked really pissed, escorted onto the plane by security. He was 2 rows behind me in FC. I guess I would be pissed to with a federal tax evasion charge. No more charters for you Wesley!

Smile Sightings over the years....

Here goes my first post ever.. I think, after many, many years of reading.. I'm bashful:

June 1985 SLC-JFK on Western in back of COACH, sat next to Christopher Christopherson after I was shocked to not get upgraded. He spoke about not being upgraded too. I didn't recognize him until he said, as we were approaching JFK, "I'm Chris Christopherson, headed to do a concert in ACY", I replied "I'm flyly, going to visit my parents!" and that was the end of the conversation. My mother didn't believe me until a day or two later she saw in the paper about him doing a concert in ACY. I was in my twenties at the time.

Around 1995 or 1996 DL DFW-DCA early morning flight. I sat next to a woman in FC who was reading a math textbook and didn't even smile the only time I spoke to her to tell her a joke that I was reading at the time in an autobiography. William Frawley (Fred Mertz) played a joke on Vivian Vance (Ethel Mertz) in real life that was somewaht sexist. As we were beginning the decent a FA came over and said to her "My husband's a big fan can I have your autograph?". As I got off the plane I asked the FA who it was. Sally Ride. I felt like a jerk having told an 'off color' joke to a feminist.

1994 or 1995 DL LAX - HNL old 1011, Mrs. Flyly and I sat in 2EF and Tony Curtis and his brand new bride (how many did that make at that point?) sat in 1 EF. After I asked the FA "Is that who I think it is?" and she said "yes", I had to explain to Mrs. Flyly who he was. Mrs. Flyly is unfazed by celebrity.

2004 DL LAX-HNL William H. Macy. He sat in last row of First, seat C. Looked like he was alone. I was in first row of Y.

During Early 90's DL Check-in counter LAX. The guy who played Hercules on the series checked in ahead of me in the F/C Medallion line. The agent said to me "do you know who that was?" and I didn't. She told me.

2003 DL CVG-Atl early morning. Couldn't get upgraded to F. I was surprised as seating chart showed many seats open on internet. I sat in first row of coach and when deplaning, Little Richard and his gang exited first class right in front of me.

2004 DL ATL-JAX. Nascar Team practically filled 1/2 of MD 80. Couldn't pick out anyone I knew.

That's all I can think of. Enjoyed the memories as I wrote my first post.
