-Fly off-peak days for the route. Usually Saturdays and mid-week.
-Choose the plane with the best F to Y ratio. The higher the ratio, the better.
-Avoid ATL as it is a hub with a HUGE Medallion population. Try CVG, SLC or JFK.
-Don't look at weekly or monthly "history" of a flight for an idea. There are way too many factors to think that F availability for a flight yesterday or last week or last month somehow correlates with the flight you're looking at.

FOs DO NOT have access to FF Security Lines at airports. Sometimes, security agent checking boarding passes will let Silver elites through, but it is a

And here in SAN, they actually have it posted what you need to be on the special line and "Silver Medallion" is officially listed so it's not an "unofficial policy".

It's good
I made GM last Sept after being FO for a few years. I live in ATL, so my percentage of upgrades hasn't been great.
I thought that making FO was great - seat selection, pre-boarding, some upgrades, etc. It's all good.
GM is another step up with the security line access in ATL and same day changes for no charge.
I fly to/from DC and NYC mostly, so the upgrades are sparse. Sometimes I'm in the 30s as a GM on the upgrade list. But, going out west to ski, Vegas, New Orleans, etc., I've been 100% on my upgrades as a GM. I think I'm about 20% for NYC and DC.
I even got an upgrade to MEX as FO last fall...go figure.

I just dropped down to GM and have still had good success between ATL-NYC. ATL-JFK has been extremely good as I've seen FOs get upgraded.

I just upgrades all 3 flights out of 4. I just success for my upgrade into First Class from PHX-ATLJAX-ATL by yesterday. I am really lucky for me that I am flew on Delta by last night. I would likely thanks to Delta for automatically me into First Class again.
When I got emails from DL but, the upgrade is confirmed. I'm sure if I will fly on Delta again in 2009 to do more miles toward FO or GM. Its guarantee where I will expected fly on Delta sometimes beginning in 2009.
is that free movies where I watched on AVOD by different ex-song configuration. This is mean where I watched the movies for free of charge into F class, am I correct? I am trying to get sleep mostly the time during redeye flight. I am really very tired during long flight for almost 19 hours out of PHX.

Andy, that's not exactly true. It seems that only ATL doesn't allow Silver's to use the special line. Every other airport I go to allows Silver Medallions to go through.
And here in SAN, they actually have it posted what you need to be on the special line and "Silver Medallion" is officially listed so it's not an "unofficial policy".

Not sure if it was mentioned already. I'm pretty sure Medallions also are put at top of the queue for operational upgrades. I was flying from Prague to ATL in August. I am GM now, but was FO at the time. It was a full 767, I was upgraded at check in because the flight was oversold. That didn't suck, because that's a long flight. I was saving my company money by flying Y when I could have technically flown Biz, so it felt like some sort of karma rewarding me.

Silver Medallion. Some say Flying Orchid from the old days, some say Flies Often, but we couldn't use SM over here because SM = SkyMiles. So, Delta Medallions are FO - Silver Medallion, GM - Gold Medallion, PM - Platinum Medallion, and EP - Executive Partner. I would tell you more about EP, but then we'd have to kill ya. Ok, really, it is an unpublished (for the most part) level and you can get some details from these threads. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=787143

Welcome DL's newest FO
I just made FO last night via 30 segments QLA-SLC in 15 weeks. When does my status show up on Delta.com? I haven't bought next week's ticket yet hoping it would show up before I pull the trigger.
I get into the CRC via my AmEx, but IIRC, I won't have to keep paying the $15 for my (1st) bag any longer, right? (That alone makes FO worth it to me, if it's the case.)
