Checking bags in on delayed flight - Haneda
 

I should know this but... checking bags in Haneda, is it 4 hours before scheduled departure or 4 hours before actual (in the case of a known delay)? Sorry I can't search - in transit & not well set up.

IIRC I saw something recently--it might have been in an email from DL--about needing to check in based on the originally scheduled time for international flights. This surprised me, but it might be because DL doesn't staff counters with DL employees in most international stations. Perhaps contract workers are inflexibly scheduled for certain hours before scheduled departure times in many overseas locations.

Well, it turns out I didn't need to know the answer as I left my backpack (with passport, laptop, wallet, valuables) on a train I transferred from en route to Haneda so I spent the extra hour tracking that down. Fun times!

At least you lost it in what has to be one of the most-honest countries in the world.
