Delta's Premium Select meals--a major fail

I recently had the opportunity to fly Delta's PS to Asia and back, followed by a trip to Europe on American's Premium Economy. All in all, very comparable with regard to seat, leg room, entertainment, etc--with one major exception--meals. Delta served an economy-size meal in cardboard containers (2 items, with me having to unwrap them) with ice cream. The pre-landing meal/snack resembled a Hot Pocket. American unwrapped the hot entree, served the meal on china, and had several more items--with good size portions. The pre-landing snack was a large Greek salad, again served on china rather than cardboard. Delta's entree was honestly one of the worst I've ever had, while American's one of the better. Delta definitely needs to up its game in PS.

Delta doesn't care how bad their product is when loyalty obsessed travelers will continue to book it.

I have flown Delta PS a few times and have not been very impressed compared to competing PE products (I don't think I've flown AA's PE product).

Personally, I don't care if the meal is in cardboard rather than on china, but I am interested in the quality of the food.

well, I know that I wont eat the food. I dont eat the food in business. Im not eating the food in premium economy. Im sorry its airline food. Its not going to get any better

. But the seats are not comfortable because they put them too close together. The service is basic coach service. You will not be getting the welcome glass of champagne they tell you youre going to ge. if you see a flight attendant during the flight it will be a miracle because they dont come to the cabin, except when they serving meals. Its just not worth the effort when you compare it to service and hard product you get on other airlines.

If I buy PE, it's primarily for the hard product. I agree that DL didn't do a great job with the hard product and it all feels a bit cramped for PE.

Well, luckily Delta went for option 3, the plastic frizbee (I really wish they had somehow lost those during Covid).

But yeah that PS meal looks pathetic, even if it tasted ok.

and unfortunately, thats going to be hard to fix. They might be able to grab some of your back with a fancy meal 😂 but that wont address the fact that they didnt design the cabin well imho

I dont get it - the specs on DLs PE are pretty much identical to those on most other carriers, in terms of # of seats across, and prob even pitch. Why is the hard product so much worse?

Good to know about the food. AA looks like a domestic F meal which is probably what it should be.

Every PS+ meal I've had has either been inedible or nearly inedible. Plus side, they throw me 10,000 skypesos when I descibe to them in a complaint how bad the food is.

It looks like a UA Premium Plus meal (not a compliment).

It is economy whether it has been prefaced by anything or not. Expectation should therefore be low.
