Is SDC broke in latest app update?

I'm traveling home tomorrow (paid F) and when I clicked the Same-Day Change button in the app, every option provided had a fare difference (either in addition or an e-credit--including the same flight I'm on). The past couple times before this the app has told me there were no options. Is DL doing away with the SDC, or did I miss something?

It is still a thing.

There's a long history of the app not working for SDC on paid first class if the fare class you booked is not available. Unfortunately, DL has never fixed this in the app so you may have to call. Note that some agents also are not familiar with this rule so you may have to request a supervisor if you receive pushback.

It's still a thing, but I have never been able to use the application to properly execute a SDC.

If you call, someone should be able to handle it.

I've used the app/online SDC before, but it doesn't interpret rules correctly as it attempts to charge for anything outside of 24 hour window of current time.

Gotcha, thanks. I've had success once on the app, that's it. These were all within 24 hours but it was weird they were offering me an ecredit for my same flight lol.

Yeah there are a lot of issues with the app for SDC, namely the fare class needing to match and it also doesn't display flights later in the day that are >24hrs from current time, even if you're within T-24 of your flight.

There are seemingly four different SDC logics available:

1. SDC in the app on the "today" page
2. Change flight in the app under my trips
3. Website change flight (most reliable in my experience)
4. Online check in on the website, change flight button there

Well, using the 'change flight' options is a traditional flight change so will reprice the ticket... this is not an SDC.
The SDC is through the app on that today page or during the website checkin process.

If it is within 24 hours it has been pricing as SDC for me. It prices ticket change for >24hr and SDC for <24hr from departure.

My understanding was SDC/SDS had to be the same calendar day to avoid a complete reprice of the ticket. I understood that if I had a 9am flight on Tuesday that I could not use SDC/SDS to fly Wednesday at 6am (within 24 hours) even if there was tons of availability.

I think that a recent app update broke the SDC in app that previously worked fine. Now it shows fare difference regardless of it its same day in coach.

Here's my experience today (for a flight tomorrow) and some about 4 weeks back mixed in:
  • Booked refundable first class in I on outbound
  • Wanted to SDC nonstop->nonstop
  1. Android App: Same day change and change flight both lead to the same screen, asking $1300 for the listed option
  2. iPhone App: Same day change and change flight both lead to the same screen, presenting no option
  3. Online Check In at delta.com (click check in, paste/type confirmation and departure, push go)
    1. Had to click more flight options as only standby was there, but the option appeared on the next page
  4. Using the "Change Flight" option on delta.com under my trips


    1. This will only show flights departing up to the current time on the current day. Changing the day to +/- seems to bring up repricing. So SDC to a later flight is only possible via this method by waiting.

I didn't go through with a change this time, but 4 weeks ago I did something similar using the delta.com change flight option from my trips:
  • Tried to change via text message and was told "Sorry you have a Travel Agent ticket" (concur) and they refused to go any further with the SDC
  • App gave no options
  • OLCI did not show the flight I wanted
  • Change from mytrips did show the flight and upfared it to J, though it did not re-issue the ticket that I could see; no issue flying it
  • Change trips did show a connection option, but it wanted a re-price from the non-stop;
    • When I checked outbound with a connection, it was not asking for any additional charge but changing to non-stop was a re-price

Obviously YMMV but giving some info on what worked for me recently.

Gotta love the chat agent that said you have a travel agent ticket and refused to do an SDC. Obviously useless and clueless, as SDC is a Delta function and nothing for a booking service.
