Tampa - 10:45pm Departure - Any lounge open for this departure?
Hello Flyertalk Forum members,
Question on Skyteam lounge in Tampa (TPA) - Flying Virgin Atlantic (VS) flight departing 10:45pm. The Delta lounge seems to close at 8:00pm. Anyone on this forum flown on VS from TPA and any experience with lounge access (or not).
TIA
PS - Posted this message in Virgin Atlantic forum, too.

VS's website references a lounge called the International Club. It lists access for Upper Class Customers and VS Gold Card holders. Not sure about STE+.

It's just a third party lounge as noted above (and not actually a "Skyteam" or VS lounge). While DL has not provided access to third party lounges to STE+ on DL international flights for a number of years (they only provide access to D1 pax), AF/KL have continued to do so for their flights. Not sure about VS now that they have joined Skyteam, but since they provide access to VS Gold members, my guess is that they may follow AF/KL policy and not DL.

Wow - I've seen the entrance to that "International Club" many times, but never once seen someone come in/out.
Great that VS are using it ... because the other international airlines (LH, LX, CM) don't (didn't?).
When Delta operated TPA-AMS, they used to arrive at the international concourse and then tow the plane to their DL terminal. This obviously takes up some time, but I still wonder why VS doesn't do the same...

I would absolutely not assume they will follow AF/KL here until someone reports that they are. Conditions are a lot different now than when AF and KL made that policy decision, it's only in place now because of inertia.

Surely it's better than sitting in the terminal (although TPA is a nice airport). Maybe if LH/LX/CM follow VS and start contracting with this lounge, they'll have $ to do more.

Can't see CM contracting to use any lounge at TPA and Edelweiss (leisure brand of Swiss) operates the LX flight; so can't see LX wanting to use a lounge either.

I don't see CM doing it, either, unfortunately.
Both LH and LX send their "leisure carriers" to Tampa. They charge full-service air fares for their premium cabin, but I agree they aren't likely to spend money on lounge access.

I was in this lounge back on May 10 - It is specifically open for the TPA-LHR VS flight, so you will not have an issue accessing it for the 10:45PM departing flight. I found it to be more than adequate FWIW (It's not the LHR Clubhouse, but worked out fine). Of note, the VS gate is LEFT after security, this club is to the RIGHT near gate 78. I managed to snap a pic of the menu that day, sharing as an example of what was offered (sorry no other lounge pics)
