Meals on late departure transcon
Hello everyone.
I have an upcoming flight on DL 308, JFK-LAX, on D1 seat. It departs on 10:15pm, and on Delta app, meal service it says Dinner. Delta normally stops hot meal after 8:30pm on First Class, right? Its this transcon being special?
Thanks in advance

This is D1, not F service. Only difference in meal in past has been the dessert served. The late night flights didn't get ice cream in past, rather a normal dessert. However you will get meal service, normally done very quickly to allow for sleep.

Thanks for the reply. Base on LAX, so 10pm JFK departure means normal dinner time for me. I am glad to know not receving the snack basket.

I don't know if this is still true on non D1 routes, but transcon/near transcon F routes like SAN-JFK or PHX-JFK DL used to also serve meal even if late night. There was some mile cutoff where meal was served regardless of hour. However I've not flown a late night non-D1 route like SAN/PHX-JFK since before CV19, so don't know if meal service is limited to SFO/LAX-JFK or not.

Thats s rough flight if there are ANY weather issues or delays in JFK. I used to take the 9pm quite a bit JFK-LAX in D1. Easily 1-3am departures with weather in JFK.

Always been served a full meal on the late night JFK - SFO that leaves after 9pm.
You should be able to pre-order on the app as well without issue.
Current month menu can be found here: https://pc2c.mydeltamenu.com/JFK-LAX/index-static.html

9PM is the meal cutoff for FC flights under 2300 miles. D1 flights and FC flights over 2300 miles do not have a cutoff threshold.

I know the 9pm one timing is better. But when I booked the ticket, the 10pm flight shows " Upgrade avaliable with regional upgrade certificate". Yes, regional, not global, can't miss that. Plus, it's 767-400, with better D1 seats. 9pm one is 767-300.

I fly JFK-LAX regularly and take the redeye back home. Always got meal service in D1.
*Edit: I should add that I've flown the 10pm JFK-LAX flight in D1 and have always gotten a meal.
