Premium Select Food Clarity

From browsing the various threads here it seems like there is no clarity/consistency as to what Delta serves in Premium Select. I’m flying DUB - JFK this week and wondering if I should expect the usual MC fare or if it will be a different meal service or if that is entirely up to chance?

Does anyone have any clarity as to what DL offers in Premium Select, several months after their promise of “elevated dining”…

It's economy service. The FA's run the cart from PS to C+ to the first rows of Main Cabin.
It's Delta's "Big Front Seat."

It’s essentially economy food but they put it on these little blue plastic trays. I assume they are a millimeter higher than economy trays and hence elevated.

It’s a bigger seat that’s all as far as the inflight service goes.

Horrid…why I moved to either Air France or Virgin for transatlantic (and more MQDs)…..if I must fly DL, I eat in club or a restaurant in terminal.

Calling it "elevated" just means you have a better chance of getting your coach class main of choice. You also get one or two more options on the drink list. The larger seat, recline, and legroom are the main benefits over C+.

Lots of outdated information in this thread.

There is no need to guess as to what will be served - you can access menus for all flights here https://dps.mydeltamenu.com/DUB-BOS (you can replace the city pair to browse other markets). The D1 link, along with some extra info is sticky’d in 2022 inflight food thread.

While DPS was being served MC meals since COVID, that ended in mid September 2022. The concept is the same as 2019 (D1 entree served with linens, glassware, silverware on a single tray)
with an exception that the appetizer and entree are no longer plated, but are served in disposable containers (although you are given a plate to place containers on). It also got the same treatment the main cabin meals received whereby less sides are served in exchange for bigger portions (allegedly) of less things.

Looking at AFKL/VS - DL probably stacks up below AFKL who both still plate and offer more variety (although both may not provide linens/silverware) and closest to VS who doesn’t plate, but still offers an extra variety of foods (although admittedly smaller entree size than DL)

not at all outdated. I flew last month from London and posted in the main thread what garbage was offered.

The concept is absolutely not as you describe at least in that instance. When I flew VS PE last it was more of a separate cabin with eg its own toilets and maybe flight attendants. That is not true for DL

That looks exactly as described by the post you quoted: D1 chicken or veg entree with main cabin presentation, salad, dessert, etc.

Wow - no linens, silverware etc maybe a miss cater? Definitely not my recent experience.

While I was commenting just on the food service itself - it’s funny you mention the toilet comment because every time in prem select the FA’s will always mention the toilet access thing. Not sure why it’s such a sticking point. I would also highly prefer VS’s E+ overall over DL’s

If you look at a few routes on mydeltamenu.com and change dps to deltaone in the URL, it does seem that the entree options for PS are a subset of the entree options for D1 on the routes that I checked (e.g. on BOS-AMS PS got 2 of the 3 choices in D1, on ATL-HND the 3 options were identical).

The odd thing is that I almost feel like my recent JFK-AMS economy meal was the pasta described on the PS and D1 menus (ravioli not rigatoni, I went back and looked at a picture that I took)... It's weird but I almost feel like Delta might somehow be serving identical pasta in all three cabins. Is it possible this is also true for the grilled chicken?

Almost certainly. They just made the description a little more detailed (premium-sounding) for D1, but I’d be surprised if it was actually different chicken.

Delta is serving economy food in D1 these days? Over on the UA board, there has been howling for serving O meals in J. I'm stunned that there are Y meals being served in J (abliet replated)

I haven't flown PS or D1 recently to confirm it, I'm only going off a JFK-AMS economy meal that I had matching one of the descriptions on the menu.

It's possible the source of the base food is the same (e.g. pasta from the same manufacturer, if you get a corporate deal you can probably get good pasta for pretty cheap) but the preparation differs (e.g. more expensive sauce, more time consuming cooking and plating process).

I have flown D1 a few times in 2022 and never got a Y meal. 🤷🏻‍♂️
