the app was pretty worthless for me this morning also in trying to find an alternate routing from dc to Florida after delta broke my trip due to a crew shortage. I tried to use the rebooking option and as given no options to any city within a 200 mile radius of my destination.

Did you try the rebooking tool tab that allows to search other days/airports? Or is this from that tab?

Yeah. I'm still holding after 100 minutes to talk to someone on the phone, and in the web messenger queue for over about 80 minutes at this point.

While waiting, I bought the last available nonstops on Allegiant, last minute, nosebleed price. Sigh. Gotta get my kids here.

Let's see how Delta handles my request for a refund when I talk to someone.

Flight canceled today at FLL. No other flights available departing from FLL for 2 days. Searched other airports in the rebooking tool and found a perfect flight from MIA. Hopped in an uber and made the new flight.

The app on Android doesn't give me that tab. I only get this message.
The other wrinkle is that I am not a named Pax, the tickets are in my kids names, so I don't have all the tools available to me that I normally would.

Sadly, there are no other nearby airports to Bozeman DL operates from (and certainly not close enough for my kids to drive themselves <200 miles in snowy weather the day after Christmas), and there aren't many other airports close to Las Vegas as alternatives.

EDIT: Delta's phone system hung up on me at 1h40m hold. Calling back, the system tells me the current hold time is 3h20m. I can't wait that long. Hoping the web messenger agent comes through.

I was actually expecting an express refund process in the app, but it doesn't give me that option. It only offers a future flight credit. Is that normal?

You have to request. Either via agent or via form on website.

You're right. For anyone in the future that may not know; you have to cancel the flights (or itinerary) first, and *then* the form allows you to request the refund.

My two-leg, 2 pax itin had the first leg canceled yesterday; I canceled the entire itin and when I went to request the refund, my options were an e-credit on a future DL flight or a refund to the original CC used to make the purchase.

Stressful day yesterday, but I'm rebooked on another carrier, and my kids will be here 11 hours later. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone.

lol. we were on the same flight on DL TPA-LGA (I was in F) and the alternative UA flight on TPA-EWR. Looks like EWR was a mess too last night
