Codeshare with Virgin Atlantic
Hi All
I'm seeing VS flights out of certain markets that stop in LHR on VS metal but proceed to various destinations on BA metal. Before I plunge and and get possibly get shorted of Medallion awards does anyone have experience with VS on this ticket? If I purchase through VS will the complete ticket still be VS even though its on BA metal? Thanks https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6a08d57d60.jpg |
I'm 99% sure that you'll receive SkyMiles credit (according to the VS table) for the VS-coded flights and nothing for the BA flights.

Ticket will be VS. However that has nothing to do with earnings. BA flights earn nothing.
Also at checkin on return, you won't get elite allowance for bags, as you'll be checking in with BA, not VS. |
I've flown VS-ticketed flights on VS metal several times. You'll get miles for the VS flights. I generally prefer attaching my DL SM number rather than my VS Flying Club one. Their reward program charges near $1k in taxes and fee for TATL reward flights.

The OP question is about the BA segments. Even If they were coded (marketed) as VS, those segments won't earn anything in DL program. I don't believe they even earn in VS program. No different than when DL sells a ticket to SIN with an ANA or Singapore Airlines segment between TYO/ICN and SIN.
The OP might be able to earn Avios or even AA points on the BA segments. I was able to earn some UA MilagePlus points when KL moved me to LH due to irrops on a DL award ticket! |
