SLC to Hawaii now Delta One
Don’t think this has been posted on here yet but just got a text from a friend who keeps up with this stuff too saying that SLC to Hawaii got bumped from standard First to Delta One. Looked for myself and it is indeed Delta One now.

This was previously announced on FT, at least for SLC-HNL. I don't recall if I saw that SLC-OGG had also been announced as going to D1 (though it makes sense with SLC-HNL going D1).
I did see this as well while looking at flights to/from HI last week. At just under 3,000 miles and barely 6 hours gate to gate on the return legs from Hawaii to SLC, it's interesting DL opted to "upgrade" these routes to D1 and believes it can command the D1 fare premium. For what I booked, the cash fare differences between routing via ATL, MSP, and CMH were quite significant but for mileage options, all routings were the same so I used miles and booked via ATL.
ETA: just crossing my fingers that at least once summer ends, some of the Mainland-Hawaii flights with D1 equipped birds get upguaged to another aircraft type with a better D1 seat (either an A330 or a 767-400 or if DL is feeling really ambitious, an A350
) but I also won't hold my breath.

I'd happily take an ex-LATAM A350 to HNL on DL. The 2-2-2 wouldn't bother me on this route since I'll be traveling with Mrs. ATOBTTR, and I imagine it's similar for many others traveling to HNL, even in the premium cabin (traveling as a couple). I recall for my UA flights earlier this year to HI, all the center pairs on DEN-OGG were taken while most of the solo-window seats were still available for selection. Mrs. ATOBTTR and I will usually select solo seats when in a 1-2-1 set-up but if we're traveling together, I don't actively avoid 2-2-2 set-ups either.

Noted here back in April. Fare rules show SLC-HNL route becomes D1 route on July 11th -- https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/34162325-post6.html, so not quite formally effective yet and still marketed as FC route through July 10th.
Also seasonal SLC-OGG flight will be D1 as noted above. Flight returns for season on Dec 17th.

They were using a widebody for a while on that route (think I flew it three times in a A330 and once time in 767). Would have preferred it staying FC, since AMEX gets me lounge access and it's a red-eye flight from HNL (or OGG too) so I always rejected any food service. HNL-SLC was oftenly under 6 hours, so pretty much what we did is to put the seat in lie flat mode right after take off till landing.
Also preferred it being FC since when flying KOA-LAX-SJC (regular FC 757), after schedule change breaking the original itinerary I'd called and had it changed to KOA-HNL-SLC-SJC for the flat-bed A330 for free

Right now the seat map isn't working but a friend/fellow FTer who was looking at possible flights to HI in March just noted that there are A350s showing on ATL-HNL for March. No idea when the A350 will start (or if will stay) or how far out the A350 service extends but interesting to see the A350 added to ATL-HNL.
